1. IOCL and Panasonic Energy sign a lithium-ion cell ink agreement JV The Panasonic Group firm Panasonic Energy Co. and the state-owned refiner Indian Oil Corporation have inked a legally binding term sheet outlining the parameters of their intended joint venture (JV) to produce cylindrical lithium-ion cells in India.
◉ The projected growth in the Indian market for batteries for two- and three-wheel vehicles as well as energy storage systems is the driving force behind this initiative.
◉ The two businesses are working on a feasibility study on how battery technology might help India make the switch to sustainable energy. By this summer, they hope to have all the specifics of their partnership finalized.
2. The Barauni Stage-I project was permanently closed by NTPC.
◉ The 220 MW Barauni Thermal Power Station Stage-I has been permanently shuttered by the state-owned power firm NTPC.
◉ On December 15, 2018, the business purchased the 720 MW Barauni Thermal Power Station in the Begusarai region of Bihar from the Bihar State Power Generation business.
◉ NTPC was founded in 1975 and plans to grow to 130 GW by 2032.
◉ The NTPC Barauni Thermal Power Station Stage-I (2×110 MW) will permanently cease operations on March 31, 2024. This includes all auxiliary systems, except for CHP, Switchyard, Ash Dyke, and Township, as well as two 110 MW units, Units 6 and 7.

3. HDFC Bank intends to divest all of its shares in HDFC Education, a subsidiary.
◉ The decision has been made by HDFC Bank to divest its whole ownership of HDFC Education and Development Services Private Ltd.
◉ The Swiss challenge technique will be used to complete the transaction.
◉ After the Swiss challenge process is over, HDFC Bank will decide which buyer to proceed with. Both the buyer and HDFC Bank would then sign official documents for the intended sale.

5. Kamal Lath joins Good Glamm Group as CFO
◉ The Good Glamm Group, a well-known provider of personal care and cosmetics, has named Kamal Lath as its group chief financial officer.
◉ He will be leading our financial strategy and execution as the recently hired Group CFO at Good Glamm Group, and he will be essential in determining the direction of the business’s next stage of expansion.
◉ He is an alumni of Harvard Business School and has had prominent roles in several companies, including L&T Mindtree, Case New Holland (CNH), K12 Techno services (Orchids International Schools), and d.light, where he was the Global CFO.
6. Union Bank of India appoints Pankaj Dwivedi as ED
◉ Union Bank of India (UBI) has named Pankaj Dwivedi as its executive director.
◉ The bank now has four Executive Directors (EDs) as a result of his appointment. Sanjay Rudra, Nitesh Ranjan, and Ramasubramanian S are the three EDs in addition to Dwivedi.
◉ Leading the bank as CEO and MD is a Manimekhalai.
Dwivedi held the position of General Manager at Punjab & Sind Bank (P&SB) before joining UBI.

7. Meena Charanda receives the “International Culture Award” in recognition.
◉ Professor Meena Charanda, the principal of Delhi University’s Kalindi College, has been awarded the “International Culture Award” for 2024.
◉ This award has been granted to Meena Charanda in recognition of her outstanding contributions to social service and education.
◉ As part of the honor, Charanda received a citation, plaque, shield, and souvenir from the university.
8. The President awards Lal Krishna Advani and four other people the Bharat Ratna.
◉ The highest civilian honor in India, the Bharat Ratna, was bestowed upon the late Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, PV Narasimha Rao, former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, and renowned agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan by President Droupadi Murmu.
◉ The Bharat Ratna was given posthumously to Chaudhary Charan Singh, PV Narasimha Rao, Karpoori Thakur, and M.S. Swaminathan, except Lal Krishna Advani.
◉ Five individuals were awarded the Bharat Ratna by the government this year. Since 1999, when four people were granted Bharat Ratna, this is the most recipients of the award in a single year.
