1. The capital of Andhra Pradesh’s new state will be Visakhapatnam.
◉ At the International Diplomatic Alliance summit in New Delhi, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that Visakhapatnam would be named the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.
◉ Hyderabad was chosen as the new state’s capital when Telangana was split off from Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
◉ Amaravati, in the Vijayawada-Guntu region on the banks of the river Krishna, was to become the new capital, according to the Andhra government of 2015, which was led by TDP’s N Chandrababu Naidu and functioning out of Hyderabad in the interim.
2. The Vision for All School Eye Health program was started by the Goa government.

10. K.V. Tirumalesh, a renowned author, passed away.
◉ KV Tirumalesh, a well-known poet and author, passed away lately at the age of 82.
◉ For his book of poems, Akshaya Kavya, he received the Sahitya Akademi award in 2016 in addition to various other literary honors. His analytical writings include a Kannada-language article on existentialism and the poems of Da Ra Bendre.
◉ He was a retired professor who had formerly taught at Hyderabad’s English and Foreign Languages University.
