1. Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG division of Reliance Retail Ventures
◉ Limited, signed an agreement with Sri Lanka’s Elephant House to produce, market, distribute, and sell beverages under the Elephant House brand in India. The two companies aim to up the fight against Coke and Pepsi.
◉ In addition to supporting RCPL’s expanding beverage portfolio, which includes well-known brands like Campa, Sosyo, and Raskik, this partnership will introduce remarkable new products and value propositions to Indian customers.
2. A JVA is signed between CIL and BHEL to establish an ammonium nitrate plant.
◉ A joint venture agreement (JVA) has been struck between state-run Coal India Limited (CIL) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) to establish the first ammonium nitrate facility on a commercial scale in India using surface coal gasification (SCG) technology.
◉ In addition to being the first coal gasification project of its kind in India, the facility will also be the first to use a coal gasification technology that BHEL developed in-house on a large-scale commercial basis.
◉ The Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) Lakhanpur region in Odisha would host the facility. Initially, 2,000 tons of ammonium nitrate are expected to be produced daily.
3. NTPC and MAHAGENCO collaborate on the creation of Renewable Energy Parks.
◉ A joint venture agreement was struck by NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC, and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) to create renewable energy parks in Maharashtra.
◉ The joint venture’s company will create GW-scale renewable energy parks and gradually take on projects of this magnitude.
◉ The arrangement represents a further step in the Government of India’s energy transition initiatives and is in line with NTPC’s green energy aspirations.
◉ The NTPC Group aspires to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032. It currently has around 22 GW of planned RE capacity in addition to 3.4 GW of installed capacity.

4. India’s position in the International IP Index 2024 is still 42.
◉ India is ranked 42nd out of 55 countries in the world in the International IP Index for 2024.
◉ The 12th edition of the International IP Index by the Global Innovation Policy Center of the US Chamber of Commerce shows that India’s overall score stayed at 38.64 percent.
◉ Twenty of the top 55 economies in the world have seen notable advances in their IP regimes, according to the Index.
◉ Though the United States remains the global leader, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and Nigeria have made significant strides.

5. Maruti Suzuki and Union Bank of India collaborate to provide dealer financing options.
◉ Union Bank of India and Maruti Suzuki India have signed an initial agreement for dealer finance solutions.
◉ The partnership improves the extensive financing choices for inventory for more than 4,000 Maruti Suzuki dealerships nationwide.
◉ Since 2008, the firm and Union Bank of India have worked together to facilitate over 3,000,00,000 auto finance cases. This is a key milestone in the partnership’s evolution.

6. RBI permits Jana SFB to reappoint Ajay Kanwal as MD and CEO.
◉ Ajay Kanwal’s reappointment as managing director and chief executive officer (MD and CEO) of Jana Small Finance Bank has been authorized by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
◉ The reappointment will take effect on March 21, 2024, and run for three years, ending on March 20, 2027.
◉ Kanwal has worked in the financial services industry for more than 33 years. Before joining Jana SFB, Kanwal served as Standard Chartered Bank’s regional CEO for ASEAN and South Asia. He also briefly held the position of Senior Advisor at TPG and Mastercard.
