1. An MoU between India and New Zealand is signed to advance their collaboration in civil aviation.
◉ A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and New Zealand would strengthen their collaboration in civil aviation.
◉ New route scheduling, codeshare services, traffic rights, and capacity entitlement will all be covered by this.
◉ In New Delhi, the MoU was signed by the New Zealand High Commissioner David Pine and the Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Bansal.
◉ The MoU grants the specified New Zealand airlines third and fourth freedom traffic rights to and from New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata as well as any number of services with any kind of aircraft.
2. An ISRO-developed gadget for fishermen’s safety was successfully tested at Neendakara. Nabhmitra is a device that was created by the ISRO-Space Applications Centre (Ahmedabad) for fishermen’s safety.
◉ Two-way message services from and to the sea are made possible by the satellite-based communication system.
◉ Weather and cyclone alerts will be given in the local tongue, and boats can alert authorities when they are in difficulty.
◉ Fishermen can push a button on the gadget to contact the control center in emergencies like capsizing and fire. The crew on the boat will receive a response message from the control center while the alert with the boat’s location is sent to the control center.
3. ‘Global IndiaAl 2023’ will take place for the first time in India in October 2023.
◉ In October 2023, India will play host to the inaugural Global India AI 2023 Conference.
◉ It will offer a distinctive forum for discussion on a range of subjects, such as next-generation learning, fundamental AI models, applications of AI in healthcare, governance, electric vehicles, and computer systems.
◉ The conference will feature participation from a number of top scholars, companies, and artificial intelligence professionals.
◉ The government’s goal is to bring the world’s top thinkers together under one roof to discuss the future of AI and its effects on various industries.
4. The ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ plan was introduced by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah.
◉ The ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ women’s financial aid program has been introduced by the Karnataka government in Mysuru.
◉ About 1.1 crore women who are the family’s head will receive Rs 2,000 monthly under this program.
◉ For the current fiscal year, the Karnataka government has set up $17,500 crore for the “Gruha Lakshmi” program.
◉ One of the five pre-election ‘guarantees’ of the Congress is the Gruha Lakshmi plan.

5. Tripura will install pink restrooms for ladies.
◉ The Tripura government has started making plans to put pink restrooms for women in populated locations.
◉ By 2022, there will be 50,000 self-help groups (SHGs), up from over 4,000 in 2018.
◉ Pink restrooms for women will be installed in metropolitan areas, and a financial expense has been set aside for this purpose.
◉ Additionally, the government maintains a 33% reservation for female employees.
Some of the initiatives done to empower women include a 50% reservation for them to establish businesses in government shopping centers.

6. The Railway Board’s new chairman is Jaya Varma Sinha
◉ As the first female CEO and chairwoman of the Railway Board, Jaya Verma Sinha was chosen by the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
She takes Anil Kumar Lahoti’s place.
◉ In the 105-year history of the Ministry of Railways, Sinha would be the first woman to serve as CEO and Chairperson of the Railway Board. The Railway Board’s first female member was Vijaylaxmi Vishwanathan.
◉ She joined the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) in 1986 and worked in the Northern Railway, South Eastern Railway, and Eastern Railway railway zones. Ms. Sinha is an alumna of Allahabad University.
◉ The last day of her term is August 31, 2024.
7. Umesh Revankar has been appointed as the FIDC Chairman
◉ Umesh Revankar has been named the new chairman of the Finance Industry Development Council (FIDC).
◉ The Non-Banking Finance Companies’ (NBFCs)’ representative body for asset and loan financing is called FIDC.
◉ At a meeting in Mumbai, the managing committee unanimously chose Revankar.
◉ He is currently Shriram Finance’s executive vice chairman and has extensive knowledge and experience in the financial services sector.

8. Army signs agreements for 19 tank driving simulators and 130 tethered drones
◉ Under Emergency Procurement (EP), the Army has signed contracts to buy 130 tethered drones and 19 tank-driving simulators, which will be delivered in 12 months.
◉ The fourth batch of EPs approved by the Defense Ministry is now being carried out by the armed services.
◉ The contract for the purchase of 19 tank-driving simulators and 130 tethered drones by the Indian Army has been inked. The introduction of such modern equipment will improve operational readiness all around.
◉ The long-endurance tether drone systems, which can be utilized in high-altitude environments, are contracted at a cost of about 250 crore rupees.
