1. ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign is started by Eknath Shinde.
◉ The ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’ campaign was introduced by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at Mumbai’s historic August Kranti Maidan in the presence of numerous dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
◉ The fact that the demand to leave India and establish Swarajya came from Maharashtra’s soil was a source of pride.
◉ The “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” idea and its culminating campaign, “Meri Mati, Mera Desh,” were intended to honor the martyrs while also instilling principles of patriotism and service to the country and nation-building.
2. The National Institute of Industrial Engineering is now India’s 21st IIM.
◉ The National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) will be renamed as the Indian Institute of Management (Amendment) Bill 2023 after both Houses of Parliament ratified it. Mumbai, the nation’s financial hub, will now have its own prominent Indian Institute of Management.
◉ The NITIE will be India’s 21st IIM and the second in Maharashtra, following the IIM Nagpur, which was the first of India’s six new-generation IIMs to open in 2015.
◉ NITIE is currently placed seventh by the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) in the Management Category for 2023.
3. Kolkata hosts the third G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group Meeting.
◉ In Kolkata, the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) held its third and final meeting while India held the presidency.
◉ The summit is attended by about 154 delegates from G20 member nations, 10 invited nations, and numerous international organizations.
◉ On August 12, 2023, the G20 Anti-Corruption Ministerial Meeting will take place in its place and be presided over by Dr. Jitendra Singh.
