1. The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh introduced the Ladli Laxmi 2.0 scheme.
◉ On May 8, 2022, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of Madhya Pradesh introduced the second phase of the Ladli Laxmi plan (Ladli Laxmi scheme-2.0).
◉ The Ladli Laxmi Scheme 2.0 is a novel project aimed at encouraging girls to seek higher education and being self-sufficient.
◉ Since 2007, the government of Madhya Pradesh has undertaken the Ladli Laxmi Scheme to improve the economic and educational standing of girls.
2. Asani, a severe cyclone, is expected to reach Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal.
◉ The cyclonic depression over the South Andaman Sea has been dubbed “Asani” by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
◉ The cyclone is the first of the year, and Sri Lanka came up with the name, which means “wrath” in Sinhala.
◉ To avoid confusion, cyclones are given names, which aid catastrophe risk awareness, management, and mitigation.
3. Jammu and Kashmir have received a new electoral map.
◉ In a final verdict delivered only a day before its two-year term was to end, a three-member Delimitation Commission redrawing the electoral map of Jammu and Kashmir assigned 47 Assembly seats to the Kashmir division and 43 to the Jammu division.
◉ A gazette announcement was issued after the panel, chaired by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, endorsed the final judgment, which gave Jammu six additional seats and Kashmir one more. Before the reorganization, Jammu had 37 Assembly constituencies and Kashmir had 46, bringing the total number of Assembly seats in the Union Territory to 90.
4. Manipur’s Poumai Naga area has been designated as a drug-free zone.
◉ The Poumai tribe of Manipur has designated its inhabited territories a Drug-Free Zone in support of the state government’s anti-drug effort.
◉ The Chief Minister praised the Poumai Naga tribe’s decision and stated that the state government will not accept deforestation or poppy cultivation in Manipur’s hill areas.

7. Reliance became the first Indian firm to reach a revenue of $100 billion.
◉ Reliance Industries has become the first Indian business to surpass $100 billion in yearly revenue. For the quarter ending March 2022, the company’s net profit increased by 22.5 percent.
◉ Retail, internet services, and the oil and gas business have all seen significant growth at Reliance. In addition, the company recorded the highest-ever quarterly EBITDA (profits before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) of Rs 33,968 crores (up 28 percent) year over year.

8. JB Pardiwala and Sudhanshu Dhulia were sworn in as Supreme Court judges by President Ram Nath Kovind.

15. Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, a Santoor maestro, died.
◉ Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, an Indian music composer and santoor musician, died in Mumbai. He was 84.
◉ For the previous six months, he had been suffering from kidney problems and was on dialysis. He died as a result of heart arrest.
