1. Madhya Pradesh will host India’s first biomass-based hydrogen plant.
- In the Madhya Pradesh area of Khandwa, India’s first commercial-scale biomass-based hydrogen plant will be inaugurated soon.
- On a daily basis, the facility will produce one tonne of hydrogen from 30 tonnes of biomass feedstock.
2. J&K was the first Union Territory to join the NSWS.
- Jammu & Kashmir became the first Union Territory to join the National Single Window System (NSWS), marking a significant improvement in the UT’s Ease of Doing Business (EoDB).
- In the presence of Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, Government of J&K, Sumita Dawra, Additional Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), and Ranjan Thakur, Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce, Government of J&K, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched the J&K Single Window Clearance System integrated with NSWS.
3. The NITI Aayog’s Fintech Open Summit was kicked off by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
- NITI Aayog has held a three-week virtual conference titled ‘Fintech Open’ in cooperation with PhonePe, AWS, and EY to highlight the relevance of the fintech industry. The summit will take place from February 7 through February 28.
- Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, opened the summit in the presence of NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Dr. Rajiv Kumar.
4. With an outlay of Rs. 2,710 crores, the government extended the RYSK Scheme for another 5 years.
- The Central Government has agreed to extend the “Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram (RYSK)” scheme for another five years, from 2021 to 2025, at a cost of Rs. 2,710.65 crore.
- The goal is to help young people develop their personalities and leadership skills while also involving them in nation-building initiatives.

- In 2021, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) surpassed the Bank of England as the world’s second-largest buyer of gold. In 2021, the RBI purchased a record 5 metric tonnes of gold, bringing its total gold reserve to 754.1 tonnes by the end of the year.
- The Central Bank of Thailand (Bank of Thailand) was the largest buyer of gold in 2021, purchasing 90 metric tonnes. India has the ninth-largest official gold reserves in the world, according to the World Gold Council’s Goldhub website.
7. To automate loan collections, RBL Bank worked with Creditas Solutions.

8. “Curlec,” a Malaysian financial business, was bought by Razorpay.
- Razorpay has entered the Southeast Asian market with the purchase of a controlling share in Curlec, a Malaysian fintech firm valued at $19-20 million.
- Razorpay intends to complete the acquisition in about a year and a half. Curley, situated in Kuala Lumpur, creates recurring payment solutions for businesses. Razorpay has made its fourth acquisition in total, and its first in international markets.

9. Sanjay Malhotra has been appointed as the Department of Financial Services Secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
- Sanjay Malhotra, a Rajasthan Cadre IAS officer from the 1990 batch, has been named Secretary in the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Financial Services (DFS).
- He had previously served as Chairman and Managing Director of REC Ltd. He took over as DFS Secretary from Debashish Panda, who served until January 31, 2022.

12. Praveen Kumar Sobti, who played Bheem in Mahabharat, died.
- Praveen Kumar Sobti, an actor and an Asian Games gold medalist, died. He was most known for playing Bheem in the TV series “Mahabharat” and for winning an Asian Games gold medal.
- He competed in many sports disciplines for the country, including the hammer and discus throw, and won four medals at the Asian Games, including two gold medals in 1966 and 1970.
