1. Polavaram Project receives center approval for Rs 12,911 billion.
◉ For the purpose of completing the first phase of the Polavaram Project, Andhra Pradesh has been granted 12,911 crores by the Central government.
◉ The Rs 12,911 crore sanctioned budget also includes Rs 2,000 crore for rebuilding the diaphragm wall that was destroyed by flooding.
◉ On the Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh, the Polavaram Project is a multipurpose irrigation project that is currently under construction.
2. Kerala ranked first in the Food Safety Index.
◉ On World Food Safety Day, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, introduced the fifth State Food Safety Index.
◉ The food safety index rates how well states and union territories perform in relation to six main facets of food safety.
◉ Kerala took first place among the major states, followed by Punjab and Tamil Nadu.
Goa took the top spot among the smaller states, followed by Manipur and Sikkim.
◉ In addition, among the union territories, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, and Chandigarh earned the first, second, and third spots, respectively.
3. Collaboration between Microsoft and AirJaldi Networks to provide internet connectivity
◉ Microsoft and AirJaldi Networks have worked together to bring internet access to underserved areas in 12 Indian states, significantly advancing India’s potential USD 1 trillion internet economy by 2030.
◉ In accordance with the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding, the corporations will work with the public and private non-profit sectors to expand access to fast internet and meaningful connectivity as a fundamental right.
◉ The MoU emphasizes further that they will develop digital transformation and broadband adoption solutions that will help underprivileged populations in rural India.
4. Beginning with Sagar Parikarma’s VII Phase is Parshottam Rupala.
◉ The seventh phase of the “Sagar Parikrama” initiative has begun, according to Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy.

5. Mumbai is the most costly city in India for expats.
◉ Mumbai is the most costly city in India for ex-pats, according to Mercer’s Cost of Living Survey 2023.
◉ On the list of the most expensive cities in India for expats, New Delhi, and Bengaluru come in second and third, respectively, after Mumbai.
◉ 227 cities from five continents participated in Mercer’s Cost of Living survey.
Mumbai is ranked 147 globally in Mercer’s 2023 Cost of Living study, followed by New Delhi at 169, Chennai (184), Bengaluru (189), Hyderabad (202), Kolkata (211), and Pune (213).
◉ Globally, the most expensive cities for hiring foreign workers this year are Hong Kong, Singapore, and Zurich.

6. Launch of Account Aggregator Services by PhonePe
◉ Following the acquisition of a Non-Banking Finance Companies (NBFC) license from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), fintech leader PhonePe launched Account Aggregator (AA) services.
◉ Through its fully-owned subsidiary PhonePe Technology Services, the corporation launched it.
◉ The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) granted PhonePe permission to function as an account aggregator in 2021.
◉ The account aggregator services would enable Indian customers to agree to and share all of their financial information with licensed financial institutions, including bank statements, insurance policies, and tax filings.
7. RBI Monetary Policy 2023, No Change in Repo Rate
◉ In its second bi-monthly monetary policy meeting of FY24, the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) made the decision to maintain the repo rate at 6.5%.
◉ By a vote of 5 to 1, the MPC decided to keep concentrating on the removal of accommodations.
◉ The RBI also maintained its 6.5% FY24 GDP growth prediction while anticipating a 5.1% FY24 CPI inflation rate.
◉ According to Shaktikanta Das, governor of the RBI, net foreign portfolio investment (FPI) inflows for the current fiscal year as of June 6 are USD 8.4 billion, compared to net outflows for the two preceding years of USD 14.1 billion and 5.9 billion, respectively.
8. Launch of Aadhaar-based UPI activation authentication by Google Pay
◉ Google has introduced Aadhaar-based authentication for UPI transactions, enabling users to create their UPI pin without using a debit card.
◉ Aadhaar-based UPI support would be provided by the National Payments Corporation (NPCI).
◉ Users who want to use UPI using Aadhaar must make sure their UIDAI-registered phone numbers and their bank’s phone numbers are identical, and their bank account must be connected to Aadhaar.
◉ The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is in favor of the action.
