1. Odisha will be rid of slums by the end of 2023.
◉ By December 2023, according to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the state would be devoid of slums.
◉ Hinjili and Digapahandi towns in the Gajman district were designated as “slum-free” by Patnaik, who also established 707 “Biju Adarsh Colonies” in 33 urban areas.
◉ Additionally, he stated that by the next year, 2.5 lakh families would receive land rights.
◉ Technical assistance will be offered for this aim by the Tata Steel Foundation.
◉ Under the scheme, land rights have already been granted to more than 1.70 lakh families living in slum regions in 105 cities and towns.
