1. Tata Play was sentenced to pay Rs 450 billion for allegedly profiting from the GST.
◉ Tata Play Ltd. has been ordered to deposit Rs 450 crores with interest by the National Anti-Profiting Authority (NAA) for allegedly profiteering after the implementation of GST.
◉ The alleged subscriber profiteering occurred between July 1, 2017, and January 31, 2019.
2. NITI Aayog has launched India’s first nationwide electric freight platform.
◉ The World Resources Institute (WRI) and NITI Aayog have collaborated to launch e-FAST India, the nation’s first national electric freight platform (Electric Freight Accelerator for Sustainable Transport).
◉ Objective: To promote freight electrification through on-ground demonstration pilots and research-based proof.
◉ Partnerships will be strengthened, and it will be easier to find and promote creative freight solutions.
3. Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was introduced by the president.
◉ Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which aims to eradicate TB in India by 2025, has essentially been inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu.
◉ By 2025, five years before the Sustainable Development Goals, the ◉ National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), formerly known as the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP), intends to strategically eliminate the TB burden in India.

4. The Centre-State Science Conclave was launched by PM Modi.

9. Interest rates increased by an unprecedented 75 basis points from the ECB.
◉ The European Central Bank prioritises the fight against inflation even if the bloc’s economy is expected to enter a winter recession by raising its benchmark interest rates by an unprecedented 75 basis points and indicating additional increases.
◉ The European Central Bank increased its main refinancing rate to 1.25%, the highest level since 2011, and increased its deposit rate from zero to 0.75%.
◉ The ECB staff dramatically increased their estimates for inflation, and it is now anticipated that inflation will average 8.1% in 2022, 5.5% in 2023, and 2.3% in 2024.
10. In August, UPI transactions reached a record.
◉ According to NPCI Data, the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) platform has handled 6.57 billion (657 crores) transactions for a total of Rs 10.73 trillion.
◉ UPI transactions increased by roughly 68% in value over the previous year while their volume increased by 85% year over year.
◉ The value of digital transactions based on UPI in July 2022 was 10.63 lakh crore. For the first time since the platform’s launch in 2016, more than 6 billion transactions were recorded in July.
