1. Launch of the ‘Stay Safe’ campaign on WhatsApp
◉ With the slogan “Stay Safe with WhatsApp,” WhatsApp has begun a new marketing campaign that highlights the many security safeguards that are already present in the messaging service.
◉ The three-month-long campaign will center on numerous safety-related features, such as “Block and Report,” “Two-Step Verification,” and “Privacy and group settings.”
◉ The campaign makes a case for WhatsApp’s two-step verification feature, which authenticates users with a 6-digit pin and an OTP.
2. The W-20 International Summit gets underway in Jaipur
◉ In Jaipur, Rajasthan, the second Women 20 (W20) worldwide gathering took place.
120 female leaders representing 18 G20 nations will attend the gathering, which aims to address issues of gender inequality and advance the economic empowerment of women around the world.
◉ The meeting’s theme is “Women-Led Development: Leverage Women’s Untapped Potential to Accelerate Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” according to Women 20, an official G20 involvement group.

◉ In New Delhi, a three-day international conference on defense finance and economics has been opened by the defense minister, Rajnath Singh.

4. India is the fifth-highest investing nation in the world.
◉ India ranks fifth in terms of financing received by businesses producing artificial intelligence (Al)-based solutions, according to Stanford University’s annual Al Index report 2023.
◉ India received $3.24 billion in total investments in AI startups in 2022, surpassing other countries including South Korea, Germany, Canada, and Australia.
◉ The US, China, the UK, and Israel are listed before India.
◉ According to the report, India was the sixth-largest recipient of AI investments between 2013 and 2022, with funding for AI businesses totaling $7.73 billion. This investment was made last year to the tune of about 40%.

5. In March 2023, retail inflation falls to 5.66%.
◉ The National Statistical Office (NSO) reports that India’s annual retail inflation decreased to 5.66% in March 2023 from 6.44% in February 2023.
◉ The inflation figures have decreased from 6.44% in February and 6.95% during the same time last year.
◉ The overall consumer price basket’s largest component, food, which makes up roughly half of inflation, decreased to 4.79%. In February it was 5.95%, and in the same month last year, it was 7.68%.
6. ICICI Bank launches an EMI option for UPI payments.
◉ Easy EMI has been made available by ICICI Bank for UPI payments made by scanning QR codes.
Customers who qualify for PayLater, the bank’s “buy now, pay later” service, can use the EMI facility right away, simply, and without any hassle.
◉ This ground-breaking technology improves the affordability of the Bank’s customers by enabling them to instantly purchase goods or services by simply scanning the necessary merchant QR code at a store and making EMI payments.

7. TCS names K Krithivasan as its new CEO.

◉ Every year on April 13, Jallianwala Bagh Massacre Day is honored.
◉ A sizable crowd calmly gathered at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab, on April 13, 1919, to protest the detention of Dr. Satyapal and Dr. Saifuddin Kitchlew.
◉ The Military Commander of Amritsar, Colonel Reginald Dyer, encircled the Bagh with his troops, shut the gates, and gave the order to fire at the quiet gathering.
◉ Thousands were injured, and hundreds were murdered. The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre is the name given to this tragedy.
