1. The “Golden Joint,” the world’s tallest railway bridge, was inaugurated in J&K’s Chenab.
◉ The “Golden Joint,” the highest railway bridge in the world, was officially opened in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district.
◉ It will be 35 metres higher than the Eiffel Tower and will be built over the Chenab River (after completion of the project). The highest railway bridge in the world’s joints links the deck’s two ends.
2. Tamil Nadu has announced the creation of a fifth elephant reserve in the Agasthyamalai region.
◉ The Union Environment Ministry gave its approval to the plan to designate 1,197.48 sq. km. in Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli as the Agasthiyarmalai Elephant Reserve. This fifth elephant reserve, the Agasthiyarmalai, will be governed by Tamil Nadu.
◉ After informing the Agasthiyarmalai Elephant Reserve, the forest department may be eligible for additional funding through the officially financed Project Elephant.
3. Atal Pension Yojana regulations have been updated by the Center.
◉ The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) guidelines have been updated by the Indian government, and they will take effect on October 1st, 2022.
◉ Any citizen who currently or has filed income taxes will not be permitted to participate in the APY. ◉ The APY account may be cancelled if an income taxpayer joins the APY system on or after October 1, 2022.

International News
4. In 10 States and UTs, IMD-UNDP and Japan work together to address climate change.
◉ The India Meteorological Department (IMD), the government of Japan, and the United Nations Development Programme have announced a new initiative to accelerate climate action in 10 States and Union Territories across the country (UNDP).
◉ The IMD-UNDP project will be carried out in the following states during the years 2022–2023: Bihar, Delhi–NCR, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
◉ Japan has given UNDP India a $5.16 million climate grant for the IMD-UNDP project. This is a part of the international support that Japan is giving to 23 countries as part of the UNDP’s “Climate Promise — From Pledge to Impact” initiative.
5. The Mexican president suggests a three-member peace commission, including Prime Minister Modi.
