1. Launch of the “Vanikaran” project in Kerala
◉ The “Vanikaran” project has been started by the Kerala Forest Department to re-establish natural vegetation.
◉ Afforestation is being done as part of a project to eradicate exotic plants, particularly Senna spectabilis.
◉ It is being carried out in the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary’s Sulthan Bathery woodland range (WWS).
2. Award is given to Meghalaya for the TB control program
◉ The administration of Meghalaya, which has supported a “Jan Andolan” (people’s movement) against tuberculosis, was recognized for using the finest practices in eradicating the illness, which kills 2.6 million people annually in India.
◉ At a nationwide workshop in the nation’s capital with the goal of eradicating TB infections, the award for Best Practice in Advocacy, Communication, and Social Mobilization (ACSM) in Tuberculosis Control was given to members of the health department.
◉ In 2021, the state recorded 4,189 TB cases, and in the first three months of 2022, approximately 1,075 patients began receiving treatment.
3. The Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission was started by MK Stalin.
