1. The Kolkata Metro is the first metro train in India to cross a river.
◉ The Hooghly River’s underwater tunnel was traversed by the Kolkata Metro’s rakes, making it the first metro rail in the nation to travel beneath a river.
◉ The 520-meter section of the Metro under the river is anticipated to be completed in 45 seconds. ◉ The water lies 32 meters below the water line in this tunnel under the river.
◉ The 4.8-kilometer underground segment from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade will soon start its trial runs. The four stations are Esplanade, Mahakaran, Howrah, and Howrah Maidan.
◉ Howrah will be the nation’s deepest Metro station (33 meters below the surface) once this section is completed and open. Later this year, commercial services are anticipated to begin along this section.
2. The Maharashtra government designates the birth anniversary of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar as “Swatantraveer Gaurav Din.”

6. For $300 million, HDFC Bank contracts with the Export-Import Bank of Korea.
◉ With the Export-Import Bank of Korea, HDFC Bank has entered into a “Master Inter Bank Credit Agreement” for a USD 300 million line of credit.
◉ The agreement was signed by the two parties in GIFT City in Gandhinagar, the state capital of Gujarat.
◉ Through this deal, HDFC Bank will be able to raise foreign currency capital that it will lend to companies with ties to Korea.
◉ This line of credit will be used by HDFC Bank to meet the financial needs of businesses that have business ties to Korean businesses as well as businesses that have equity participation from Korean businesses.
