1. The chief minister of Tamil Nadu debuted the “Mahakavi Subramanian Bharathiyar” statue at Varanasi.
◉ Sri Lanka Through a video conference, Chief Minister K. Stalin unveiled the statue of Mahakavi Subramanian Bharathiyar at the restored Bharathiyar home in Varanasi.
◉ Stalin also issued a memento in honor of his 100th birthday. On behalf of the State Government, Bharathiyar’s 141st birth anniversary was celebrated all across the State.
◉ Bharathiyar was a multilingual writer, poet, journalist, activist for Indian independence, and social reformer who wrote in Tamil.
2. Cement assets from Jaypee Group will be purchased by Dalmia Bharat for Rs 5,666 crore.
◉ The flagship company of the Jaypee Group, Jaiprakash Associates Ltd, and its affiliated companies have announced that Dalmia Bharat Ltd will buy their cement assets for a total enterprise value of Rs 5,666 crore.
◉ The purchase has an enterprise value of Rs 5,666 crore and includes a total annual cement capacity of 9.4 million tonnes (MnT), clinker capacity of 6.7 MnT, and thermal power plants of 280 MW.
◉ The states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh are where these assets are located.

◉ In a Soviet spacecraft, Hermaszewski orbited the planet in 1978.
◉ He and Soviet cosmonaut Pyotr Klimuk orbited the planet for nine days in June and July 1978 aboard the Soyuz 30 craft that docked at the Salyut 6 orbiting space station.
