1. Anurag Thakur introduces PB-SHABD to provide media outlets with a news stream.
◉ Anurag Singh Thakur, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, introduced PB-SHABD, a news-sharing platform, from Prasar Bharati in New Delhi.
◉ Prasar Bharati – Shared audio-visuals for Broadcast Dissemination is referred to as PB-SHABD.
◉ Along with updating the news on the Air mobile app, he also unveiled the redesigned websites for DD News and Akashvani News.
◉ As an inaugural offer, the SHABD service is available for free for the first year and will give news stories in fifty categories covering all major Indian languages.
2. The protocol for the Joint Economic and Trade Committee formation is signed by the Dominican Republic and India.
◉ India and the Dominican Republic signed the protocol to create the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO).
◉ Through technical support, training initiatives, and capacity building, the protocol aims to expand and improve collaboration in commerce, services, industrial technology, and other areas.
◉ It will play a crucial role in easing the difficulties that commerce and business are facing and offer a forum for the two nations to exchange best practices and information.
3. An agreement was made between India and Bhutan regarding energy efficiency and conservation measures.
◉ The signing of an agreement between India and Bhutan to expand cooperation in the area of energy efficiency and conservation measures was approved by the Union Cabinet, which is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
◉ The Department of Energy, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Royal Government of Bhutan, and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
◉ Under the terms of this Memorandum of Understanding, India will support Bhutan’s efforts to improve household energy efficiency by endorsing the Bureau of Energy Efficiency’s star labeling system.
4. In January 2024, the Indian Index of Industrial Production increases by 3.8%.
Official statistics given by the government indicate that in January 2024, India’s industrial production increased by 3.8%.
◉ In January 2023, factory output as assessed by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased by 5.8%.
◉ From April 2023 to January 2024, the IIP expanded by 5.9%, as opposed to 5.5% during the same period last year.
◉ Mining production climbed by 5.9% in January 2024, while power output increased by 5.6%.

5. A 2% interest in KFin Tech is sold by Kotak Mahindra Bank.
◉ For Rs 208 crore, Kotak Mahindra Bank sold a 2% share in KFin Technologies on the open market.
◉ According to bulk trade data on the BSE, the private sector lender sold 3,470,000 shares of KFin Technologies for Rs 600.28 per share.
◉ Kotak Mahindra Bank owned a 9.80% share in KFin Technologies as of the end of December.
◉ In September 2021, Kotak Mahindra Bank made a Rs 310 crore investment in KFin Technologies.
6. Deposits held by private banks increase to 34%.
◉ Private sector banks now account for 34% of total deposits, up from 25% at the end of the 2017–18 fiscal year. This represents a significant increase.
◉ The private banks’ enhanced customer relationship management techniques and aggressive interest rate offerings have been the main drivers of this rise.
◉ Based on data from the Reserve Bank of India, the proportion of public sector banks in the market has decreased to 59% from 66% at the end of the 2017–18 fiscal year.
◉ Private banks’ increased percentage of total deposits can be attributed to their capacity to quickly raise interest rates on fixed deposits.
7. To support funding for rural and periurban areas, L&T Finance and JICA ink a $125 million deal.
◉ A $125 million finance agreement was inked by L&T Finance Holdings Ltd (LTFH) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to promote lending in India’s rural and periurban areas, with a focus on women borrowers.
◉ As per the terms of the co-financing agreement, a further $125 million loan is currently being raised from JICA. In November of last year, LTFH secured a $125 million loan from the Asian Development Bank.
◉ A minimum of 40% of the earnings would be given to female borrowers; the remaining portion would be used to finance MSMEs and farmers in addition to loans for the acquisition of brand-new two-wheelers, including electric ones.

◉ Arun Goel, the Election Commissioner, just resigned, and the appointments follow just days before the next Lok Sabha elections. Only Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar remained on the three-member Election Commission panel following the retirement of Anup Pandey in February and Goel’s departure.
