◉ The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation revealed data showing that India’s retail inflation rate dropped to 4.8 percent in October, a four-month low, and then spiked to 55 percent in November.
◉ Food costs have risen sharply, which has been linked to an increase in retail inflation. Notably, November’s food inflation rate was 8.70 percent.
◉ The Reserve Bank of India considers a jump in inflation to be acceptable within a range of 2 to 6 percent. According to the published data, the inflation rate increased by 0.54 percent sequentially. It should be mentioned that retail inflation has remained below 6 percent for the third straight month.
