1. The official names of Nargis and Indira Removed from the Academy of Motion Pictures
◉ The Committee for Rationalization of Film Awards recommended renaming the National Film Awards’ “Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director” and the “Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration.”
◉ The committee suggested changing the name of the “Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director” to “Best Debut Film of a Director” and raising the prize amount to Rs 3 lakh.
2. NTPC turned on a 14 MW solar power plant at the Ayodhya project.
◉ The Ayodhya Solar Photovoltaic Project, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has seen the commissioning of 14 MW of capacity.
◉ The project is a component of a bigger 40 MW solar project that NTPC Green Energy Ltd is developing in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya.
◉ The NTPC Group now has 73,888 MW of installed and commercial capacity after this commissioning.
3. National Conference on APAAR: One Nation, One Student ID Card is opened by Dharmendra Pradhan.
◉ The national conference commemorating the introduction of the 25 crore “APAAR: One Nation One Student ID Card” was opened by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
◉ The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 envisions “One Nation, One Student ID,” and the conference will discuss how to make education more smooth, how to make academic mobility easier, and how to protect students’ privacy and data.
◉ The Education Ministry has suggested that all student education data be fully integrated through the ID by the year 2026–2027.
4. With a $66 million purchase, Wipro expands its expertise in the insurance industry.
◉ For $66 million, IT giant Wipro strengthened its position as a market leader in the insurance industry by acquiring a 60% share in US-based insurtech Aggne Global, a player in the property and liability (P&C) insurance market.
◉ Aggne was established in 2019 and has offices in Hyderabad, India, and Tampa, Florida. It is incorporated in both the US and India.
◉ There are 230 workers for the company, with offices in both India and the US.
With this investment, Wipro takes a majority stake in Aggne and gains access to a special set of skills and P&C insurance-related intellectual property (IP).
5. CIAL and BPCL collaborated to establish the first green hydrogen plant at the Cochin airport.
◉ The Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a green hydrogen plant on Cochin Airport property.
◉ According to a statement released by CIAL on Wednesday, the outcome of this joint endeavor will be the establishment of the first green hydrogen plant and fuelling station in the world, situated in an airport.
◉ Green hydrogen is acknowledged as a fuel of the future and is consistent with zero-carbon energy goals. It is created from water utilizing renewable energy sources.

6. In January, India’s WPI inflation decreased to a three-month low of 0.27 percent.
◉ According to preliminary data from the Commerce Ministry, India’s wholesale price index-based inflation decreased even more, to 0.27 percent on an annual basis in January 2024 compared to 0.73 percent in December.
◉ Following a contraction of (-)1.12 percent in the previous month, the WPI index saw a contraction of (-)0.33 percent in January.

9. Defence Ministry and BEL Sign a Rs. 2,269 Crore Contract
◉ A deal has been inked by the Ministry of Defence and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to supply the Indian Navy with eleven Shakti Electronic Warfare Systems.
◉ The value of the contract is 2,269 crore rupees.
◉ The Indian Navy plans to equip its capital warships with the Shakti EW System. With the help of more than 155 industry partners, including MSMEs, the project will create 2.5 lakh man-days of employment over four years, advancing the goal of “Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
