1. Gamocha receives a GI tag in Assam.
◉ The Gamosa of Assam, Tandur Redgram of Telangana, and an apricot variety from Ladakh are just a few of the items that have received Geographical Indications (GI) Tags from the government.
◉ Literally meaning “towel,” the Assamese word “gamocha” is frequently used in daily life.
The trade and industry ministry reported that there are now 432 GI in total.
◉ Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Karnataka are the top five states with the most GIs.
◉ The government has approved the spending of 75 crores for three years for the promotion of awareness programs, supporting the promotion of GIs.
2. 32nd Board of Directors meeting of the National Horticulture Board (NHB) led by Narendra Tomar Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar presided over the meeting in New Delhi.
◉ It was determined to make it easier for farmers to get their horticultural projects approved.
◉ The approval procedure will now be done in one step rather than two, be entirely digital, need the fewest number of documents possible, and result in no issues for the farmers.

◉ To reduce domestic carbon emissions, the Tokyo local assembly has passed a new law requiring the installation of solar power panels in all new homes constructed in Tokyo by large-scale homebuilders from April 2025.

◉ The price of Russian seaborne oil will be capped at $60 per barrel starting in December by the Group of Seven countries, Australia, and the 27 member states of the European Union in an effort by the West to reduce Moscow’s capacity to fund its conflict in Ukraine.
◉ India imported roughly 4 million bpd of oil overall in November, and about 23 percent of it came from Russia.
8. G-7 agreed to a contract with Vietnam for 15.5 billion US dollars.
◉ Vietnam will get 15.5 billion US dollars from a group of nine wealthy industrialized nations as part of an agreement to help the Southeast Asian country switch from coal power to renewable energy more quickly and reduce its climate-damaging emissions.
◉ Vietnam will receive assistance from the Group of Seven major countries, Norway, and Denmark to cut its emissions to “net zero” by 2050.
◉ Experts agree that limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius requires worldwide action.
