1. Launch of the “Geospatial Hackathon” by Jitendra Singh
◉ Jitendra Singh, India’s Minister of State for Science and Technology, has started a “Geospatial Hackathon” to encourage innovation and start-ups in the country’s geospatial ecosystem.
◉ Goal – To develop the ecosystem for geospatial start-ups in our nation as well as to encourage cooperation between the public and private geospatial sectors.
◉ The “Geospatial Hackathon” will include two sets of challenges: the Research Challenge and the Startup Challenge, and it will end on March 10, 2023.
2. By 2025, the entire nation will be covered by a doppler weather radar network.
◉ The Doppler weather radar network would cover the entire nation by 2025, according to Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
