1. By 2030, Indian Railways will emit zero carbon.
◉ According to Federal Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s written response to the Lok Sabha, Indian Railways has set a goal of becoming a “net-zero carbon emitter” by 2030.
◉ By December 2023, all trains will be electric, and by 2030, non-renewable energy will be used predominantly to power the trains and terminals, according to the Railways’ ambitious plan.
2. In Bengaluru, Narender Singh Tomar launches “AgriUnifest”
◉ The “AgriUnifest” festival was launched in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on March 15, 2023, by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar.
◉ Bangalore Agricultural University and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research are working together to put on a 5-day cultural program (ICAR).

3. Bhutan’s removal from the United Nations’ list of least-developed nations
◉ Bhutan, a landlocked kingdom in the Himalayas, was recently removed from the list of least developed countries (LDCs) at the United Nations Least Developed Countries (LDC) Summit, which ended on March 9 in Doha, Qatar. It will be the sixth country to do so.
◉ In 1971, Bhutan was added to the initial list of LDCs.
On a number of socioeconomic criteria, nevertheless, it has advanced remarkably during the past few decades.
◉ Bhutan first achieved graduation criteria in 2015 and then again in 2018. Bhutan was so expected to complete its education in 2021.

4. Canara Bank launches the UPI-compatible Rupay Credit Card.
◉ Canara Bank and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) collaborated to offer the Rupay Credit Card over UPI utilizing the BHIM app in order to make use of the power of credit card products and the reach of UPI.
◉ Customers can use this connection to link their Rupay Credit Card to UPI and do merchant transactions that resemble account-based UPI transactions without using the actual card.
5. For Indian startups, ICICI Bank offers ecosystem banking.

◉ On March 15, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for fostering innovation in financial products and services with the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates.
◉ Both central banks will work together on a variety of cutting-edge FinTech projects, particularly those involving Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), and study the possibility of interoperability between the RBI and the UAE’s central bank’s CBDCs.
◉ To facilitate cross-border CBDC transactions for commerce and remittances, the Central Bank of the UAE and RBI will work together to perform proof-of-concept (PoC) and pilot(s) of a bilateral CBDC bridge.
