1. The Saansad Khel Mahakumbh’s second phase was launched by PM Modi.
◉ Prime Minister Narendra Modi used video conferencing to officially launch the Saansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022–2023 second phase in the Basti District of Uttar Pradesh.
◉ Wrestling, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, basketball, football, hockey, chess, badminton, and table tennis are just a few of the indoor and outdoor games that are competed in by the Khel Mahakumbh.
◉ In addition to these, competitions in painting, rangoli making, and essay writing are also held.
2. The “Schools of Eminence” project will be started by the Punjab government.
◉ The first significant educational initiative of the Punjab administration would be called “Schools of Eminence.”
◉ It will be unveiled at the Mohali campus of the Indian School of Business (ISB).
◉ As part of the proposal, the state government will transform current public schools into “Schools of Eminence” for grades nine through twelve.
◉ The government intends to transform roughly 110 public schools into “Schools of Eminence” as part of phase 1.

5. Telangana CM launched the “Kanti Velugusecond “‘s phase.
◉ The second phase of the “Kanti Velugu” program has been begun in the Khammam district by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

◉ Free eye exams will be provided for 100 days during the Kanti Velugu at dedicated health camps with 1500 medical teams.
◉ 827 health teams worked on the initial phase of Kanti Velugu for eight months. The rest of the state will start receiving the health camps on January 19.
6. At Nalanda, Bihar, ASI uncovered two little stupas dating back to 1200.
◉ Two tiny stupas dating back to 1200 AD have been found by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) inside the Nalanda Mahavihara complex in the Bihar district of Nalanda.
◉ On the stone-carved stupa, images of the Buddha are depicted. As early as the seventh century, these stupas were widely used in India as votive offerings.
◉ The stupa is a hemispherical building that represents the Buddha’s tomb. It gained popularity after the arrival of Buddhism and peaked during Ashoka’s rule.

10. Venus-bound ISRO “Shukrayaan I” mission apparently moved to 2031
◉ The Indian Space Research Organization (ISROSatish )’s Dhawan Professor and advisor to its space science program, P. Sreekumar, reportedly stated in a talk that the organization has not yet received approval from the Indian government for the Venus mission “Shukrayaan I,” and as a result, the mission may be postponed until 2031.
◉ Launching of the mission was planned for December 2024.
◉ The idea was first envisioned in 2012; five years later, after the Department of Space received a 23% increase in the budget for 2017–2018, ISRO began its first research. The organization asked for payload suggestions from research universities in April 2017.

◉ The oldest person in the world, 118-year-old French nun Lucile Randon, has passed away.
◉ At her nursing home in Toulon, France, Randon, who received the name Sister André when she joined the clergy in 1944, passed away peacefully in her sleep.
◉ She was born in Southern France on February 11th, 1904.
◉ The oldest person in the world, Ken Tanaka of Japan, passed away in 2022. Age-wise, he was 119.
◉ Sister Lucille Randon, 118, surpassed Tanaka as the oldest person in the world upon his passing.
