1. PM Modi opens Port Blair’s new integrated terminal building
◉ Through video conferencing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the integrated terminal building at Port Blair’s Veer Savarkar International Airport.
◉ The new infrastructure, which was constructed for about Rs 710 crore, will be crucial in improving the connection to the union territory’s island.
◉ The structure, which has a built-up area of around 40,800 square meters, can accommodate about 5 million passengers a year.
◉ The airport has also invested Rs 80 crore in the construction of an apron that can accommodate two Boeing-767-400 and two Airbus-321 types of aircraft, allowing it to accommodate ten aircraft at once.
2. The Conference on Drug Smuggling and National Security Union is presided over by Amit Shah.
◉ In New Delhi, the Regional Conference on Drug Smuggling and National Security was presided over by Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.

◉ In Hyderabad, Bonalu is celebrated, particularly in some of the Old City, typically during Ashada Masam, which occurs in July/August.
◉ In Telugu, the word Bonam literally translates to “meal,” which is an offering to the Mother Goddess.
◉ Women were observed making offerings to the deity at the temples while dressed in their customary best and bearing “Bonam” on their heads. Bonam is Hebrew for “meal in a pot with sugar.”
◉ In Bonalu, Kali is worshipped in a variety of forms, including Mysamma, Pochamma, Dokkalamma, Pedamma, Poleramma, Ankalamma, and Maremma, among others.

4. India and the UAE have signed an agreement to create a campus of the IIT in Delhi.
◉ An MoU between India and the UAE outlines plans to open the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in Abu Dhabi, which would make it the second IIT outside of India after Tanzania.
◉ Following discussions between PM Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, the MoU was inked.
◉ By January 2024, the IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi campus will be up and running and will start teaching a Master’s program in Energy Transition and Sustainability.
◉ In addition to creating research centers in the areas of sustainable energy, climate studies, computers, and data sciences, additional Bachelor, Master’s, and Ph.D. Level programs are anticipated to be provided beginning in September 2024.

6. The CM of Maharashtra opens PM MITRA Park in Amravati.
◉ In a sense, the PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel Park (PM MITRA Park) in Amravati, Maharashtra, has been officially opened by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde.

8. Michelin India has chosen Shantanu Deshpande as its new MD.
◉ Shantanu Deshpande has been named MD of Michelin India by French business Michelin. His home base will be Pune, India.
◉ Deshpande had a variety of leadership positions in sales and marketing over his 23 years with Michelin, the firm said in a statement, both in India and in other countries like North America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
◉ In 1999, he started working for Michelin India as an area sales manager.
◉ In addition to serving as VP of Marketing for a Michelin subsidiary in North America, he was appointed India Marketing Director in 2007.

◉ Oommen Chandy, a prominent member of Congress and a former chief minister of Kerala, died at the age of 79.

◉ In several governments led by K Karunakaran and AK Antony, Chandy had also held the positions of minister of labor, home affairs, and finance.
