1. President Murmu gives INS Dronacharya the “President’s Color”
◉ At Kochi, President Droupadi Murmu gave the INS Dronacharya the President’s Color.
◉ The President’s Colour is regarded as the greatest award that the President may give to a unit in recognition of particularly outstanding national service.
◉ Sagar Prahari Bal is trained at INS Dronacharya, which also serves as the Navy’s primary training facility for various countries in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
2. Inaugurating the World Millets Conference was PM Modi.
◉ The World Millets Conference has begun in New Delhi under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
◉ Sessions on millets promotion and awareness among farmers, consumers, and other stakeholders will be held during the two days of the international conference.
◉ The United Nations General Assembly designated 2023 as the International Year of Millets (IYM) based on India’s request (UNGA).
3. Sampanna Ramesh sets a new record for swimming across Palk Strait in India.
◉ Sampanna Ramesh Shelar, a swimmer from Pune, has crossed the Palk Strait from Talaimannar, Sri Lanka, to Dhanuskodi, Tamil Nadu, faster than any other Indian swimmer under the age of 21.
◉ After covering the 29 Km in 5 hours and 30 minutes, he set this record. The earlier benchmark was 8 hours and 26 minutes.
◉ With this accomplishment, Mr. Shelar plans to shortly undertake solo swims across the English and Catalina Channels in an effort to finally complete the Oceans Seven Challenge, which involves swimming across all seven seas.
4. The governor of Manipur opened the international conference on “Natural Farming.”
◉ A three-day international conference with the theme “Natural farming for Revitalizing Environment and Resilient Agriculture” has been launched at the Central Agricultural University of Manipur by Manipur Governor Sushri Anusuiya Uikey.
◉ Moreover, Manipur and other North Eastern States’ inventive farmers’ natural farming products were displayed at the conference.
◉ In the conference’s technical sessions, representatives from Bangladesh, Nepal, Singapore, Thailand, Germany, England, and the U.S. will take part.
5. The government of Uttarakhand established a 10% reservation for pro-statehood advocates.
◉ The government of Uttarakhand has approved a 10% horizontal reservation for statehood campaigners in public employment.
◉ As the governor previously vetoed a bill allowing statehood activists a 10% reservation, the decision about that reservation takes significant.
◉ For the previous 12 years, statehood campaigners have not benefited from reservations in government employment.
◉ The proposal to increase the MLA Local Area Development Fund from 3 crores 75 lacks to 5 crores annually also received approval from the Cabinet.
6. Rajasthan’s chief minister unveiled three new divisions and 19 new districts.
◉ Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, made the announcement about the creation of 19 new districts.
◉ Three new divisions and new districts will be created months before the crucial Assembly elections.
◉ The state currently has 50 districts in total thanks to the creation of 19 new ones.
◉ Anupgarh, Balotra, Beawar, Deeg, Didwana-Kuchaman City, Dudu, Gangapur City, Jaipur North, Jaipur South, Jodhpur East, Jodhpur West, Kekri, Kotputli, Khairthal, Neemkathana, Phalodi, Salumbar, Sanchore, and Shahpura are among the new districts (Bhilwara).
7. By 2030, Indian Railways will emit zero carbon.
◉ Indian Railways is working on a mission mode to become the largest green railway in the world and towards becoming a “net zero carbon emitter” by 2030, according to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, who recently stated in a written response to a question in the Lok Sabha.
◉ In order to reduce carbon emissions, Indian Railways has undertaken a number of efforts, some of which involve the use of energy-efficient technology.
◉ Indian Railways is beginning to produce three-phase electric locomotives with regenerative capabilities, Head on Generation (HOG) technology, LED lighting in structures and coaches, and equipment with star ratings.
8. India approves spending Rs. 70,500 billion on military gear
◉ As part of a massive procurement plan that is anticipated to dramatically increase domestic defense manufacturing, India has authorized proposals totaling Rs. 70,500 crores for the purchase of military hardware that has been planned, developed, and built domestically.
◉ The Defense Acquisition Council (DAC), which is presided over by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, gave its assent to the procurement proposals.
◉ The Indian Navy has submitted more than Rs 56,000 crore worth of proposals, the majority of which concern its own BrahMos missiles, Shakti electronic warfare (EW) systems, Utility Helicopters-Maritime, etc.
◉ Of these, Indian industries will provide the majority of the purchase.

9. India came up at number 13 on the global terrorism index, behind Afghanistan.
◉ The tenth Global Terrorism Index (GTI) study shows that despite a decline in assaults and deaths of 75% and 58%, respectively, Afghanistan continues to be the country most affected by terrorism for the fourth consecutive year.
◉ On the index, India came in at number 13, a barely noticeable drop from the year before.
◉ Indian respondents refrained from ranking war and terrorism as the top threat to their daily safety, despite the country being one of the 25 worst-hit countries on the index.
◉ Despite a decline in terrorism-related deaths of 866 in 2022, according to the GTI, Afghanistan registered 633 fatalities in 2022.
◉ Worldwide, terrorism-related fatalities decreased by 9% to 6,701 deaths, a 38 percent drop from their peak in 2015.

◉ Gopinathan will stay on with the business until September 15, 2023, to help his successor transfer and get things going. TCS increased its market valuation by over $70 billion and contributed over $10 billion in additional sales over his six years as CEO.
