1. The Nanjarayan lake, a biodiversity hotspot, has been designated as the 17th bird sanctuary by the Tamil Nadu government.
◉ The government has established an information center to enhance public knowledge of the lake’s bird population.
◉ The Nanjarayan Tank, also known as the Sarkar Periyapalayam Reservoir, is a water reservoir in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, near Koolipalayam.
2. Cotton Council of India is established by the Centre.
◉ The Cotton Council of India, chaired by renowned senior cotton man Suresh Bhai Kotak, has been established by the Union Government.

4. The Supreme Court has ruled that Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination suspect be released.
◉ The Supreme Court invoked Article 142 of the Constitution to award AG Perarivalan, a former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination suspect, special powers to “perform perfect justice in any cause or matter standing before it.”
◉ A bench of justices led by L.N. Rao and B.R. Gavai discharged Perarivalan after considering his lengthy detention. Perarivalan was held in solitary confinement for 29 of his 32 years in prison before being granted bail by the Supreme Court in March 2022.

5. The World Bank has approved USD 350 million for Gujarat’s SRESTHA-G project.
◉ The World Bank has granted funding for the Systems Reform Endeavors for Transformed Health Achievement in Gujarat (SRESTHA-G) project in the amount of USD 350 million.
◉ The World Bank will contribute USD 350 million to the SRESTHA-G project, which will cost USD 500 million. The project will change the state’s primary healthcare delivery systems.
6. India would go bilateral after Pakistan blasted SAARC in 2016.
◉ With Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Nepal in economic uncertainty, and Afghanistan under Islamist Taliban control, the future of SAARC appears dismal. In order to preserve its national security, India has no choice but to engage in bilateral interaction with its neighbors.

◉ BSE Limited, India’s leading stock exchange, has approved the appointment of SS Mundra, Public Interest Director, as Chairman of the company’s board of directors.
◉ Mundra will succeed the current chairman, Justice Vikramajit Sen. Mundra joined BSE as the Public Interest Director in January 2018. On July 30, 2017, he stepped down as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
11. Gopal Vittal has been re-appointed as MD and CEO of Bharti Airtel for another five years.

◉ Surat, the fourth and last stealth destroyer under the ‘Project 15B’ program, is the first ship. The second ship is the frigate Udaygiri, which is part of the ‘Project 17A’ program. It is the third frigate of Project 17A.
