1. Ashwini Vaishnaw opened the rail segment with the adapted Badi Sadri-Mavli gauge.
◉ The converted rail stretch between Badi Sadri and Mavli has been officially opened by Union Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
◉ In the program set up at Badi Sadri in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, he virtually signalled the departure of the Badi Sadri-Udaipur City daily special, the Rewa-Udaipur City weekly special, and the Siuri-Sealdah MEMU train.
◉ The modified rail stretch between Badi Sadri and Mavli gauge has been officially opened by Union Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
2. An agreement for the manufacture of batteries was reached by Reliance, Ola, and Rajesh Exports.
◉ Contracts for advanced chemistry cell (ACC) battery storage have been signed by the Ministry of Heavy Industries with three businesses under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme.
◉ These businesses are Rajesh Exports, Ola Electric Mobility Pvt Ltd, and Reliance New Energy Ltd. Under this Rs 18,100 crore program, incentives would be given to the three chosen enterprises.
◉ About 95-gigawatt hours of battery production capacity is anticipated from the companies.
3. The Prime Minister officially opens the Deutsche Bank IBU at GIFT-IFSC.
◉ The IFSC Banking Unit (IBU) of Deutsche Bank AG is located in Ahmedabad’s Gujarat International Finance-Tec City (GIFT City), and Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it.
◉ According to Deutsche Bank AG, the IBU will first offer financial products in the fields of trade finance, fixed income, and currencies.
◉ The IBU will provide all authorized international finance products to Deutsche Bank’s clients in India and internationally, according to a release. Additionally, within the confines of the current legislation, it will permit cash pooling and other deposit proposals for Indian and overseas clients.
International News
4. South Korea, the US, and Japan all take part in a missile defense exercise.
◉ As part of intensified security cooperation against North Korea’s increasing military threats, a media outlet said that a joint ballistic missile defense exercise involving South Korea, the US, and Japan will start this week in the waters near Hawaii.
◉ The biannual Pacific Dragon drill will occur, according to the sources. Along with the other three countries, Australia and Canada will also participate in the exercise in the edition 2022.
◉ The exercise, which calls for the deployment of eight warships and two aircraft, seeks to enhance cooperation among the participating countries in the detection, tracking, and reporting of ballistic missile targets.
5. RBI has set a deadline for card tokenization of October 1
◉ The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a circular in which it directed all parties, excluding card networks and card issuers, to erase all previously saved Card-on-File (CoF) data by October 1, 2022.
◉ The RBI provided the reprieve to help with a smooth transition to a new payment system. Aside from the card issuer and the card network, the merchant and its PA involved in the online transaction may hold the data for a maximum of T+4 days or until the settlement date, whichever comes first.

6. With Rs 1.49 lakh crore, the GST revenue for July 2022 was the second-highest ever.
◉ In July, the GST collection increased by 28% to reach Rs 1.49 lakh crore, the second-highest amount ever, thanks to the economic recovery and measures taken to combat tax cheating.
◉ The GST (Goods and Services Tax) collection for the same month a year ago was Rs 1,16,393 crore.
In April 2022, the GST, which was enacted in July 2017, reached a record high of Rs 1.68 lakh crore.
◉ Since the introduction of the GST, the monthly GST collection has exceeded Rs 1.40 lakh crore six times. Since March 2022, this has happened five times in a row.

7. Prakash Satyendra was named as the PIB’s Principal DG
◉ The Press Information Bureau has selected Satyendra Prakash as its Principal Director General (PIB). He is a 1988-class Indian Information Service officer.
◉ Jaideep Bhatnagar, who retired on July 31, 2022, was replaced by him.
◉ Prior to this, Prakash served as the Central Bureau of Communication’s Principal DG.

8. The French and Indian Navies practiced in the Atlantic Ocean.
◉ While on a long-range overseas deployment, the guided-missile frigate INS Tarkash of the Indian Navy participated in a maritime partnership exercise (MPX) in the North Atlantic with French navy vessels.
◉ Between Tarkash and the French Fleet Tanker FNS Somme, replenishment at sea exercises was conducted.
◉ The maritime surveillance aircraft Falcon 50 then took part in several simulated missile engagements and air defense manoeuvres as part of cooperative air operations.
9. In Rajasthan, the joint military drill AL NAJAH-IV between India and Oman got underway.
◉ At the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Bikaner, Rajasthan, the joint military exercise “AL NAJAH -IV” between contingents of the Indian Army and the Royal Army of Oman has begun.
◉ The Royal Army of Oman has sent a 60-person squad to the exercise’s location.
◉ Enhancing bilateral defence cooperation is the goal of the joint military exercise.
◉ The 18 Mechanized Infantry Battalion will send soldiers to the drill to represent the Indian Army.
10. Ex VINBAX 2022, a joint military exercise between Vietnam and India, began at Chandimandir Haryana.
◉ ExVINBAX 2022, the third bilateral military exercise between Vietnam and India, will run from now till August 20th in Chandimandir in Haryana.
◉ Objective: To improve ties between India and Vietnam on a bilateral basis.
◉ Theme 2022: Hiring and deploying a medical team and an engineering company as a part of the UN contingent for peacekeeping operations.

11. Olympic medalists Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Razia Dhillon won gold in each shooting competition in the first Digvijay Singh Memorial Shooting Championship, winning gold in the men’s and women’s skeet events, respectively (Shotgun).
◉ In the Men’s category, Gurjoat Singh from Punjab has settled for bronze, while Arjun Thakur of Madhya Pradesh holds the silver position.
◉ Dhillon defeated Parinaaz Dhaliwal of Punjab to win the junior women’s skeet competition, earning a double gold medal.
