1. Goa welcomes the opening of the eighth-lane, second-longest cable-stayed bridge in India.
◉ Union Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, has officially opened the first phase of the New Zuari Bridge, which spans the Zuari River and connects Verna junction in South Goa with Bambolim in North Goa.
◉ The bridge, which is situated on NH-17/NH-66 on the Panjim-Mangalore stretch of the state of Goa, would shorten travel times between North and South Goa by reducing the amount of time that traffic is blocked between Bambolim-Agasaim-Cortalim-Sancoale and Verna Junction.
2. India and Cyprus signed a defense and military cooperation deal.
◉ A number of agreements have been negotiated between India and Cyprus in a variety of fields, including their military cooperation.
◉ In order to establish a shared framework for arrangements and collaboration to support the mobility of students, academics, businesspeople, and professionals, a Letter of Intent on Migration and Mobility Partnership was also signed.

3. In January, Tata Motors will finish acquiring the Ford India manufacturing facility.

4. The Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI) in Karnataka is inaugurated by Amit Shah.
◉ Amit Shah, Union Minister of Housing and Cooperation, has officially opened the Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI) in Devanahalli, Karnataka.
◉ He also opened the Indo-Tibetan Border Police’s residential and administrative structures (ITBP).
◉ Residential Quarters, Joint Building, Barracks for 120 Jawans, Staff Officers’ Mess, and Officers’ Mess are among the ITBP residential complexes that Shri Amit Shah officially opened.
◉ This will be the nation’s sixth CDTI produced by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs Bureau of Police Research & Development.

◉ The Indian government wants to establish India as the “Global Hub for Millets” and turn the International Year of the Millets into a “People’s Movement.”
◉ The idea was approved and adopted by the UN General Assembly at its 75th session in 2021, and 2023 was designated as the International Year of Millets.
◉ To promote the International Year of Millets and raise awareness of the advantages of millets, Central Ministries, States, and Indian embassies set aside a dedicated month in 2023.

◉ Utkarsh 2.0, the second stage of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) medium-term strategy for improving regulatory and supervisory systems, has been introduced by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.
◉ By keeping the six vision statements, together with the core purpose, values, and mission statement from Utkarsh 2022, Utkarsh 2.0 builds on its strengths.
◉ In July 2019, the first strategic framework (Utkarsh 2022) spanning the years 2019–2022) was released. It evolved into a medium-term strategy plan that directed the Bank’s advancement toward the achievement of the listed milestones.

9. Sujoy Thaosen, the director-general of the CRPF, now oversees the BSF.
◉ Sujoy Lal Thaosen, the director general of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has been assigned an additional responsibility as the director general of the Border Security Force by the Indian government (BSF).
◉ He succeeds Pankaj Kumar Singh, director general of the BSF.
◉ Thaosen, a Madhya Pradesh cadre officer from the 1988 batch, would undertake the “additional charge” of BSF DG till the appointment of a permanent DG of BSF or until further instructions.
◉ In addition to playing a number of tasks in the country’s internal security, the roughly 2.65 lakh-strong BSF monitors more than 6,300 kilometers of the Indian border with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
