1. Students from Delhi government schools will receive free coaching for the NEET and JEE entrance exams.
- Students interested in engineering, medicine, or other technical disciplines will be able to receive free preparation for entrance exams such as NEET and JEE from the Delhi government.
- Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia of Delhi announced that during the first year of the scheme, 6,000 pupils in classes 11 and 12 from Delhi government schools will receive free coaching for various admission tests.
2. Nepal will be the first country in the world to use India’s UPI platform.
- According to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Nepal would be the first country to embrace India’s UPI system, which will play a key role in modernizing the digital economy of the neighboring country. To deliver the services in Nepal, NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL), NPCI’s international arm, has partnered with Gateway Payments Service (GPS) and Manam Infotech.

3. According to an SBI estimate, India’s GDP is expected to rise at 5.8% in October and December.
- According to an SBI research paper titled Ecowrap, the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to expand at 5.8% in the third quarter of fiscal 2022. In the second quarter of 2021-22, the country’s GDP grew by 8.4%, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
- According to the SBI Nowcasting Model, GDP growth for Q3 FY22 is expected to be 5.8%, with a downward tendency. GDP growth for the full year (FY22) has been revised down to 8.8% from our previous estimate of 9.3%.

4. India has won the proposal to host the 2023 session of the International Olympic Committee in Mumbai.
- During the 139th IOC session, held on the fringes of the Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, India gained the privilege to host the 2023 IOC session in Mumbai. This will be India’s second time hosting an IOC session, after New Delhi in 1983. India won the bid with no opposition.
5. Heather Knight and Keegan Petersen are the January ICC Player of the Month winners.
- Following a fantastic Test series against India, South African batter Keegan Petersen beat off under-19 standout and compatriot Dewald Brevis and Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain to win the ICC men’s Player of the Month title for January. Heather Knight, England’s captain, triumphed against Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu and West Indies star Deandra Dottin to win the women’s trophy.

6. Assam’s Highest Civilian Award was given to Ratan Tata.
- Assam At a celebration in Mumbai, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presented prominent industrialist Ratan Tata with the state’s highest civilian award, the ‘Assam Baibhav.’ The award was given to Tata, who is also the head of the Tata Trust, for his outstanding commitment to cancer care in Assam. It comes with a citation, a medal, and a monetary prize of Rs. 5 lakh. Tata was supposed to receive the prize during a ceremony on January 24, but he was unable to attend owing to personal circumstances.
7. Coal India has won the title of “India’s Most Trusted Public Sector Company.”
- The ‘India’s Most Trusted Public Sector Firm’ title has been given to Coal India Limited, a Maharatna company of the Indian government. Coal India was given this award during the “Energy Meet and Excellence Award” occasion held in Kolkata by the Industry Chamber “ASSOCHAM.”
