1. In the Karnataka Mining case, the Supreme Court has allowed firms to export iron ore.
◉ The Indian Supreme Court has approved the export of iron ore from mines in the Karnataka districts of Ballari, Chitradurga, and Tumakuru. The export embargo on iron ore was lifted by a bench comprising Chief Justice N V Ramana, Justices Krishna Murari, and Hima Kohli, who took note of the Central government’s position and instructed the corporations to follow the authorities’ limits.
◉ In 2012, the state’s highest court prohibited iron ore exports, with the purpose of preventing environmental deterioration and guaranteeing that the state’s mineral resources are preserved for future generations, as part of the concept of inter-generational equality.

2. On Mt. Everest, NatGeo installed the world’s highest weather station.
◉ At an altitude of 8,830 meters, the National Geographic Society has placed the “world’s highest weather station” to automatically measure numerous meteorological events.
◉ The autonomous weather station was built a few meters below the summit point last week, according to Nepal’s Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), because the summit’s snow and ice make it difficult to fix equipment.

3. RBL Bank and Amazon Pay have partnered to provide UPI payment services.
◉ RBL Bank, Amazon Pay, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have teamed up to offer UPI payments, which will encompass peer-to-peer and peer-to-merchant transactions.
◉ The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) would award RBL Bank a UPI ID with the handle @rapl, resulting in a streamlined payments experience using RBL Bank’s cloud-based processing infrastructure. RBL strengthens its UPI footprint with AWS-hosted payment processing technology, allowing the bank to interface with Amazon Pay’s growing customer base and transaction volumes.
4. IDBI Bank will sell a fourth of its Ageas Federal Life Insurance stake.
◉ IDBI Bank has entered into a share purchase agreement to sell its remaining 25% stake in Ageas Federal Life Insurance for Rs 580 crore, making Ageas one of the few foreign insurers to increase its stake in its Indian insurance joint venture to 74 percent since the government raised the FDI cap in the insurance sector.
◉ The transaction is expected to completion in Q2FY23, subject to regulatory clearances and the terms and conditions of the share purchase agreement being met. In December 2020, Ageas, European insurance, increased its share in the Indian insurer from 26 percent to 49 percent.

5. Amazon Smbhav Entrepreneurship Challenge 2022 is won by Genius Energy.
◉ Subhash Ola, a Rajasthani entrepreneur who created a system for saving energy in boilers by recycling steam, has won the Amazon Smbhav Entrepreneurship Challenge 2022’s first prize, and his company, “Geniusenergy Critical Innovation Private Limited,” has received the Start-up of the Year award.
◉ The technology was originally developed to make khoya and other milk products, but it has since been expanded to include textiles, milk and food, pharma, plywood, paper mills, leather industry, chemical industry, hot water boiler generator, plastic recycle, laundry, hospitals, and other applications.

6. Skyroot Aerospace’s rocket engine is successfully tested.
◉ Skyroot Aerospace Private Ltd, a private-sector rocket manufacturer, successfully tested its Kalam-100 rocket, which will power the Vikram-1 rocket’s third stage/engine.

7. China intends to use a space telescope to search for the world’s first habitable planet.
◉ Chinese scientists have proposed a space project that would use a space-borne telescope to explore the sky in search of habitable Earth-like planets outside the solar system, roughly 32 light-years away.
◉ The Closeby Livable Exoplanet Survey (CHES) project would be the first space mission dedicated to finding habitable terrestrial planets orbiting nearby Sun-like stars. One of the most exciting areas of astronomical research is the search for habitable planets beyond our solar system.

◉ The United Nations General Assembly recognized May 21 as World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development in a resolution. The day is intended to honor the diversity of the world’s cultures and to emphasize the importance of diversity as an agent of inclusion and good change in the pursuit of peace and long-term development.
◉ Variety Day, also known as “The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development,” is a chance for communities to learn about the importance of cultural diversity and how to live in harmony with one another.
9. The 21st of May is Anti-Terrorism Day 2022.
