1. PM Modi Opens Campus at IIT Hyderabad
◉ Two central institutions in Telangana and five in Andhra Pradesh have been essentially inaugurated and dedicated to the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
◉ Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad and the Indian Institute of Technology’s Campus Development Project are on the list.
◉ According to Amisha Rajani, there are several Indian Institutes of Technology and Science Education and Research/Indian Institute of Management in Visakhapatnam, Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (both in Tirupati), Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing in Kurnool, and Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sri City.
2. For $3.27 million, Tech Mahindra will buy a 100% share in Orchid Cybertech.
◉ Tech Mahindra has paid $3.27 million to acquire a wholly owned subsidiary that owns 100% of Orchid Cybertech Services (OCSI).
◉ According to the IT giant, this agreement improves their relationship with it and helps to grow their company and customer experience capabilities in the Philippines.
◉ OCSI will be merged into Tech Mahindra as part of the deal, and after that, TPG will receive customer service and other services from Tech Mahindra.
◉ Of an all-cash transaction last March, Tech Mahindra purchased all of the equity shares of Mumbai-based Thirdware Solutions for a possible total price of up to $42 million, including earnouts.

5. Japan dedicates 232.2 billion yen to nine Indian development projects
◉ Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan worth 232.21 billion yen (about $1.55 billion) has been committed by Japan for nine projects in India spanning several sectors like horticulture, road connectivity, and climate change adaptation.
◉ To put it clearly, the project’s goal is to enhance the development of infrastructure in the Northeastern area of India through road network connectivity.
◉ However, the goal of the Chennai periphery ring road project is to improve connectivity to the southern region of the state and reduce traffic congestion.
◉ By building a Medical College Hospital, the project in Nagaland would advance the delivery of tertiary-level medical services and advance universal health coverage.

7. UCO Bank, BOI, and IOB appoint new chairmen
◉ Former LIC Chairman M R Kumar has been named by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) as the Bank of India (BOI)’s non-executive chairman and part-time non-official director for three years.
◉ Additionally, Srinivasan Sridhar has been appointed by the government to both the executive and non-executive chairmanships of Indian Overseas Bank. Sridhar has been given a three-year appointment.
◉ The UCO Bank in Kolkata has named Aravamudan Krishna as its non-executive chairman for three years.
◉ Since the managing director and chairman positions were divided among PSBs in 2015, Krishna will serve as the organization’s first chairman.
8. RBI granted Mswipe Technologies a payment aggregator license.
◉ Mswipe Technologies, a merchant-led digital payments service, announced that the Reserve Bank of India has awarded them a payment aggregator (PA) license.
◉ In August 2022, the central bank gave the corporation the go-ahead to function as a payment aggregator, in theory.
◉ Section 7 of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act of 2007 provides PA.
◉ 16 organizations held payment aggregator licenses issued by the RBI as of February 2024. These include software giant Zoho, food delivery service Zomato, search giant Google, fintech Stripe, neo-bank Open, and merchant payment solutions providers Juspay and Razorpay.

◉ Prolific writer and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor was named a “Chevalier de la Legion d’honneur,” the highest civilian honor bestowed by France.
◉ The renowned prize was given to Tharoor, a Thiruvananthapuram Congress MP and author of multiple books, at the French Embassy by French Senate President Gerard Larcher.
◉ The former Union minister Tharoor received the award in February 2024, despite the French government having announced it in August 2022.
◉ The highest civilian award given by France was given to Dr. Tharoor in honor of his long-standing friendship with France, his unwavering efforts to strengthen Indo-French relations, and his dedication to world peace and collaboration.

11. Fali Nariman, a Supreme Court attorney, passed away
◉ At the age of 95, eminent jurist and Senior Supreme Court Lawyer Fali S. Nariman passes away.
Between 1972 and 1975, he held the position of extra solicitor general; nevertheless, he resigned in an emergency.
◉ The Indian Supreme Court designated Nariman as a Senior Advocate in 1971. From 1999 to 2005, he was also a nominee for the Rajya Sabha.
◉ In 1991, he received the Padma Bhushan, and in 2007, the Padma Vibhusham.
