1. Piyush Goyal will head the Indian delegation at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
◉ From May 22 to 26, Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will lead the Indian delegation to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
◉ This event will help to cement India’s position as an important and relevant participant in shaping the global narrative, particularly as it prepares to assume the G-20 leadership next year.
2. Water Infrastructure Projects of Rs 660 crores were sanctioned by the NMCG.
◉ Under the chairmanship of G Asok Kumar, Director General, NMCG, the 42nd Meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) authorized 11 projects with an estimated cost of Rs 660 crores to establish Water Infrastructure Projects along the River Ganga.
◉ Interception, Diversion, and Treatment Works projects have been permitted in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, with the goal of cleaning the Hindon River.
3. At IIT-Guwahati, Dharmendra Pradhan launched the North East Research Conclave 2022.

◉ Jose Ramos-Horta, a former independence fighter and Nobel Peace Prize winner, has been sworn in as the president of East Timor (Timor-Leste).
◉ In the election, he defeated incumbent Francisco “Lu Olo” Guterres, a fellow independence fighter.

6. For Rs 580 crores, IDBI Bank would sell a 25% share in Ageas Federal Life Insurance.
◉ IDBI Bank has entered into a share purchase agreement with Ageas Federal Life Insurance to sell its remaining 25% stake in the private sector life insurer for Rs 580 crore.
◉ It will assist Ageas, one of the few foreign insurers, in increasing its interest in its Indian insurance joint venture to 74 percent following the government’s hike in the FDI cap in the insurance sector.

◉ He will succeed Sanjeev Kumar Singla as PM Modi’s private secretary. Vivek Kumar, a 2004 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, is the director of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Kumar joined the PMO in 2014 as a deputy secretary.

◉ Both troops will patrol the International Maritime Boundary Line in tandem. The most recent IN-BN CORPAT took place in October 2020.

◉ Since 2013, the UN International Day to End Obstetric Fistula has been observed on May 23rd to encourage action to cure and prevent obstetric fistula, a disorder that affects many girls and women in developing countries during childbirth.
◉ The global Campaign to End Fistula was launched in 2003 by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and its partners as a joint effort to prevent fistula and restore the health of people affected by the illness. The day was declared a national holiday in 2012.
