1. Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital in Mohali is opened by PM Modi
◉ The 300-bed Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center at Mullanpur, Mohali, Chandigarh, was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
◉ The Tata Memorial Centre, an aided institution run by the Union Department of Atomic Energy, constructed the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre for more than 660 crores.
◉ Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Minister of Punjab, was also present for the Bhabha Cancer Hospital’s ribbon-cutting ceremony. To assure the treatment of all cancer kinds in India, the hospital is outfitted with the best cutting-edge facilities, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography, Digital Radiography, and Brachytherapy.
2. Anurag Thakur, a Union Minister, introduced the online game “Azadi Quest.”

3. The government of Tamil Nadu made agreements with five leather and footwear industries.
◉ For a Rs 2,250 crore investment in the leather and footwear industry, the Tamil Nadu government has inked five Memorandums of Understanding.
◉ Additionally, the “Tamil Nadu Footwear and Leather Products Policy 2022” was unveiled by Chief Minister M K Stalin.
◉ By 2025, the strategy hopes to bring in Rs 20,000 crore in investments and provide 2 lakh people with jobs in the leather industry.
◉ A particular package for manufacturing footwear and leather products as well as incentives for these “design studios” will be provided by the footwear and leather products policy 2022.
4. HPCL started its first compressed biogas project using cow dung.
◉ At Sanchore, Rajasthan, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited has started work on its cow dung to compressed biogas project.
◉ The plant, which would be the first of its kind in HPCL’s Waste-to-Energy portfolio, would use 100 tonnes of dung per day to generate biogas that could be used as fuel for automobiles.
◉ The project is being developed under the GOBAR-Dhan scheme, which was introduced by the Indian government in April 2018 as a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission’s (Grameen) Biodegradable Waste Management component. The scheme aims to improve cleanliness and produce wealth and energy from organic waste and livestock.
5. All 23 AIIMS will have local hero and monument names
◉ The plan to give each AIIMS a unique name based on local heroes, liberation fighters, significant local historical occurrences or landmarks, or their unique geographic identity, has been approved by the administration.
◉ A list of names was supplied by the majority of the 23 AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences).

6. Germany will launch the first hydrogen passenger trains in the world.
◉ Germany has introduced the first fleet of hydrogen-powered passenger trains in the world. In Lower Saxony, Germany, the first fleet of hydrogen-powered passenger trains has taken the place of 15 diesel trains that were previously used on non-electrified rails. The electricity produced by hydrogen fuel cells powers the trains’ engines.
◉ These trains can travel distances of up to 1000 kilometers and top out at 140 kph. After the first fleet of hydrogen-powered passenger trains is introduced, the hydrogen generated from renewable energy will allow the trains to use up to 1.6 liters less diesel annually.

7. American Express Applauds RBI’s Move to Relax Regulations
◉ The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to loosen limitations on the corporation as a result of the company’s significant local investments in technology, infrastructure, and resources. American Express Banking Corp. applauded the move.
◉ American Express praised RBI for deciding to lift its restrictions. The lifting of the embargo will allow American Express to add new Indian customers to its card network.
◉ With immediate effect, RBI has relaxed the limits placed by order dated April 23, 2021, on the onboarding of new domestic customers for American Express.
8. Soon, RBI will introduce the digital rupee.
◉ In this fiscal year alone, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will most likely launch its digital rupee, the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
◉ Since the country’s finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, mentioned a digital rupee during her address about the budget for 2022 back in February, there have been numerous discussions about it. She has previously stated that the debut of the digital rupee would occur in 2022–2023.
◉ In contrast to the present mobile wallet system provided by private companies, the Reserve Bank’s digital rupee blockchain would be able to track all transactions.

14. The technique for creating the sugar substitute “Xylitol” was invented at IIT Guwahati.
◉ IIT Guwahati researchers have developed a fermentation method that securely produces Xylitol from sugarcane bagasse, a byproduct of crushing sugar cane.
◉ With this method, the operational limitations of chemical synthesis and the delays associated with conventional fermentation are overcome. In addition to cutting the fermentation process’ duration to 15 hours, using ultrasound also saw a nearly 20% improvement in product yield.
◉ As knowledge of the detrimental effects of white sugar (sucrose) on people with diabetes and general health has improved, the use of safe alternative sweeteners has increased.

◉ On the anniversary of Arun Jaitley’s passing, former vice president and union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu published a book called “A New India: Selected Writings 2014–19,” which is a collection of some of his best writings.
