1. The ‘Balidan Stambh’ in Srinagar has its foundation stone laid by Amit Shah.
◉ The ‘Balidan Stambh’ was officially opened on June 24 in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
◉ At the park close to Lal Chowk, Srinagar’s main shopping district, he was joined by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
◉ This memorial, which is a component of the Srinagar Smart City project, honours the valiant martyrs who gave their lives in the service of the country.
2. On Yoga Day, Surat sets a Guinness World Record for the largest assembly.
◉ With 1.53 lakh participants, the Yoga Day event held in Surat, Gujarat, has broken the previous Guinness World Record for the highest yoga class attendance in one location.
◉ When 1,00,984 individuals attended a Yoga Day session in one location in Kota, Rajasthan, in 2018, that record was broken.
◉ For precise counting, the participants received wristbands with QR codes. The involvement of 1.53 lakh people, which broke the previous record, was verified by the QR code data.
◉ Through an internet connection set up for this purpose, about 2.20 lakh persons registered themselves.
3. The Jharkhand government introduces a panchayat-level healthcare programme.
◉ Hemant Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand, has introduced the state’s ambitious panchayat-level pharmaceuticals shop programme, which aims to make important medications accessible in outlying areas.
◉ Hemant Soren officially launched the programme in the Chatra district by granting three people permission to run drug stores in panchayats.
◉ So far, 15 individuals have been chosen in the district to receive the licence. Now that necessary medications are available here, residents living in outlying places won’t have to scurry from one pharmacy to the next for them.
◉ Additionally, the CM lay the groundwork for 177 projects totalling roughly Rs 364 crore for the Chatra district. On the occasion, he opened 42 projects worth roughly Rs 14.6 crore.
4. Hyderabad’s Medha Rail Coach Factory is opened by Telangana’s chief minister.

5. Police in Tamil Nadu introduce a new programme for women who are out alone at night.
◉ A helpline number has been established by the Tamil Nadu Police for women who are out alone at night between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am.
◉ They can call the number and a police patrol car will be sent over if they feel uncomfortable riding alone.
◉ To protect the safety of women in the state, the police have established a facility, which is free to use.

6. Fitch increases its FY24 GDP prediction for India from 6% to 6.3%.
◉ Rating service The GDP prediction for India for the fiscal year 2023–2024 has been increased by Fitch from 6 per cent to 6.3 per cent.
◉ The revision is supported by a stronger first-quarter result and encouraging short-term momentum.
◉ The growth anticipated for FY23 compared to a 7.2% increase in GDP. In FY22, the economy grew by 9.1%.
◉ The growth projection is compared to the GDP growth of 7.2% in FY23. The economy had expanded by 9.1 per cent in the preceding fiscal year (FY22).
7. The ‘One-View’ feature is introduced by Axis Bank.
◉ The ‘one-view’ feature of Axis Bank’s mobile application now allows account management across numerous bank accounts, including non-Axis accounts.
◉ An industry first, the feature was introduced using the open banking concept and the account aggregator (AA) ecosystem.
◉ Platforms used by AAs or data aggregators offer secure information sharing while upholding customer permission and data protection.
◉ Customers can link their non-Axis Bank accounts to gain access to all of their bank accounts on one platform and receive a detailed real-time picture of their balance, transactions, and statements. ◉ This makes managing finances easier.

8. Animali Orpo elected as Finland’s new prime minister
◉ The parliament of Finland has chosen Petteri Orpo, the head of the conservative party, to serve as prime minister.

◉ The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Director General, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, received the Olympic Order from the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
◉ Dr Tedros received the honour for his efforts to conduct the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic’s difficulties.
◉ International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach honoured Dr Tedros with the Olympic Order at the Olympic House in appreciation of his support of the collaboration pact between the IOC and the WHO that will be inked in 2020.
