1. The inaugural Vande Bharat Express in Kerala was launched by PM Modi.
◉ At Thiruvananthapuram Central Station, Prime Minister Narendra Modi signalled the departure of Kerala’s inaugural Vande Bharat Express between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod.
◉ Thiruvananthapuram–Kasaragod–Thiruvananthapuram South and North Kerala would be connected by Vande Bharat.
◉ Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat will become the quickest in the corridor once operations begin.

2. G20 Tourism Expo is staged by the Ministry of Tourism in Jaipur
◉ The G20 Tourism Expo was held in Jaipur and was organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan.
◉ In order to increase tourism, the Ministry of Tourism intends to create 50 new travel destinations within India and start advertising abroad.
◉ The UDAN system recommended 59 tourist routes, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation has made 51 of them operational.
◉ Despite the difficulties caused by the epidemic, India will welcome 6.19 million foreign tourists in 2022, a 305% increase over the 1.52 million in 2021.

3. Advantage Healthcare India 2023, sixth edition
◉ The Advantage Healthcare India 2023 event’s sixth iteration has been held in New Delhi.
◉ The two-day event aims to highlight how India has become a significant hub for top-notch healthcare and wellness services as well as the new centre of medical value travel.
◉ The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will jointly organise the event.
◉ The possibilities for Indian businesses to sell medical and healthcare items to international markets will be demonstrated.

4. New features are introduced by Bhupender Yadav on the eShram Portal
◉ Bhupender Yadav, the Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change, has introduced additional features to the eShram Portal.
◉ The additional features included in the eShram portal will increase its usefulness and make it easier for unorganised workers to register.
◉ The eShram platform now allows eShram-registered workers to connect with employment possibilities, skills, apprenticeships, pension plans, digital skills, and state programmes.


International News


5. India plans to construct a refinery in Mongolia by 2025.
◉ The first oil refinery of Mongolia, which is being built and funded with Indian assistance, would be completed by 2025, according to Dambajav Ganbold, the ambassador of Mongolia to India.
◉ A $1.2 billion soft loan from India will be used this year to construct the first phase of the Mongol Oil Refinery.
◉ Given that Russia is the only source of energy imports for Mongolia, the development has strategic ramifications.
◉ It would enable Mongolia to satisfy 70% of domestic demand.

6. Operation Kaveri is launched by India to rescue stranded residents of Sudan
◉ In order to rescue its countrymen who are trapped in Sudan, India has started Operation Kaveri.
500 Indians have arrived in Port Sudan as the rescue operation continues.
◉ The navy ship INS Sumedha and two C-130 planes are ready to evacuate Indian citizens.
◉ One of the main rivers in India, the Kaveri, flows through Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

7. Zimbabwe will launch a digital currency backed by gold.
◉ To help stabilise the local currency, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe will issue digital money backed by gold as legal tender.
◉ The country’s gold reserves, which will be kept by the central bank, will act as the backing for the tokens, which are a sort of electronic money.
◉ To assist them protect themselves against the volatility of the local currency, the RBZ wants people who possess Zim dollars to be able to exchange their money for the gold-backed coin.
◉ One US dollar was worth roughly 150 Zim dollars a year ago, but today it is more than 1,000 Zim dollars.

8. The ‘Indie’ digital bank will be introduced by IndusInd Bank.
◉ This quarter, IndusInd Bank will introduce its online bank, Indie.
◉ Additionally, the bank intends to penetrate the mutual funds, insurance, and broking industries.
◉ Eight million customers are anticipated by the bank over the next three years, with a balance sheet of Rs. 50,000 crores.
◉ To get the required permissions, the bank supported by the Hindujas family is probably going to contact SEBI, IRDAI, and other regulators.

9. Nasscom Names Anant Maheshwari As Chairperson For 2023–2024
◉ Microsoft India President Anant Maheshwari has been selected as Nasscom’s chairperson for the years 2023–24.
◉ Maheshwari succeeds Krishnan Ramanujam, President of Tata Consultancy Services Business and Technology Services, who served as Chairperson for the fiscal year 2022–2023.
◉ Rajesh Nambiar, chairman and managing director of Cognizant India Ltd., was also appointed as the apex association for the software and IT services industry’s vice chairperson for the years 2023–2024.

10. The UK elects Oliver Dowden as its next deputy prime minister.
◉ The United Kingdom’s new deputy prime minister, Oliver Dowden, has been chosen.
◉ Following the resignation of former Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab, Dowden was appointed.
◉ Prior to taking on this position, he was the current UK government’s Cabinet Office secretary and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.
◉ Along with his new obligations, he will continue in his current role. Alex Chalk is the tenth justice secretary in the previous ten years.

11. Sachin Tendulkar Stadium Stand in Sharjah
◉ In a special ceremony held in the United Arab Emirates in memory of the Indian cricket icon on his 50th birthday, the West Stand at the Sharjah cricket stadium has been renamed after former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar of India.
◉ The Sharjah Cricket Stadium has hosted 244 One-Day Internationals, which is a Guinness World Record.
◉ On the occasion of Sachin Tendulkar’s 50th birthday, the gate of the Sydney Cricket Ground was also given his name.
◉ Khalaf Bukhatir is the CEO of Sharjah Stadium.
