1. PM Modi unveiled the app “Call Before u Dig”
◉ The “Call Before u Dig” app was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
◉ The purpose of this is to make it easier for underground utility owners and excavation services to coordinate in order to reduce digging damage to utilities.
◉ It will aid in preventing haphazard digging, which costs the government tens of billions of rupees annually by damaging subterranean utility assets like optical fiber lines.
2. The Lok Sabha approves the Jammu and Kashmir budget at Rs. 1.18 trillion.
◉ The Lok Sabha passed the over Rs 1.18 lakh crore budget for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for 2023-24.
◉ Infrastructure and development will receive the 35% capital expenditure, or Rs. 41, 491 crores.
While revenue expenditure is anticipated to total Rs 77,009 crore, predicted revenue revenues are Rs 1,06,061 crore.
◉ The economy of Jammu and Kashmir is expected to grow at 10%.
3. Cabinet approved a 4% increase in central government employees’ dearness allowance.
◉ The dearness allowance for all government employees has increased by 4%, bringing the overall percentage up to 42% from 38%.
◉ Over 1 crore central government employees will benefit from the increase in dearness allowance, or DA, which the center will pay for with Rs 12,815 crore.
◉ The distribution of a further payment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief to Pensioners, both of which are due at the start of January 2023, was agreed upon by the cabinet. Both 69.76 lakh pensioners and 47.58 lakh employees will gain from this.
4. Amit Shah inaugurated the Vedic Heritage webpage in New Delhi
◉ Union Amit Shah, the home minister, opened the Vedic Heritage webpage in New Delhi.
◉ The Vedic message is intended to be communicated through the gateway. It would allow common folks to acquire a general understanding of the Vedas.
◉ The portal will serve as a one-stop shop for those looking for any information pertaining to the Vedic legacy.
◉ The audio-visual recording of four Vedas has been released on the Vedic Heritage portal.
It lasts for more than 550 hours and contains more than 18,000 mantras from the four Vedas.

6. UNESCO report: 26% of the world’s population lacks access to clean drinking water.
◉ 26% of the world’s population lacks access to clean drinking water, according to a report released by UNESCO at the United Nations 2023 Water Conference in New York.
◉ According to the report, between two and three billion people go without water for at least one month each year, posing serious risks to their ability to support themselves, particularly in terms of food security and access to electricity.
◉ It is expected that by 2050, there will be 1.7 to 2.4 billion urban dwellers worldwide, up from 930 million in 2016.

7. Karur Vysya Bank receives an Rs. 30 lakh fine from the RBI.
◉ Karur Vysya Bank Ltd. has been fined 30.00 lacks (Rupees Thirty lakh only) by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for failing to comply with some rules outlined in the Reserve Bank of India (Frauds-Classification).
◉ The bank allegedly failed to notify RBI of a few accounts as fraudulent within a week of the Joint Lenders’ Forum (JLF) decision to do so, according to the report.

8. Luis Caffarelli wins Abel Prize for maths
◉ The Abel Prize for mathematics has been awarded to Argentine-American Luis Caffarelli, an expert in “partial differential equations” which can explain phenomena ranging from how water flows to population growth.
◉ A professor at the University of Texas, Caffarelli (74) was honored for his “seminal contributions to regularity theory for nonlinear partial differential equations,” the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters said.
◉ This type of equation models how several variables change with respect to each other and plays a prominent role in many disciplines, including engineering, physics, economics, and biology.
◉ The academy hailed in particular his groundbreaking contributions to the field of regularity theory over 40 years.
