1. Third phase of 5T School Transformation is launched by the Odisha CM.
◉ Odisha The third stage of the 5T School Transformation Programme has been begun by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
◉ The project aims to raise the level of instruction and facilities in public schools throughout the state.
◉ In the third phase, 2,151 government high schools will all be transformed.
◉ To promote holistic development, the plan will integrate the 5Ts—transformation, collaboration, technology, transparency, and time—in schools.
2. Pottery from Manamadurai has a GI tag.
◉ Tamil Nadu’s traditional Manamadurai pottery has been given the Geographical Indication (GI) designation.
◉ Tamil Nadu’s Sivagangai district’s Manamadurai is well-known for its pottery industry.
◉ The pottery is renowned for its particular design aesthetic that incorporates intricate patterns and vivid colours.
3. Ladakh hosted the Y-20 Pre-Summit Meeting for the G20.
◉ Leh, Ladakh, will host the Y20 Pre-Summit while India has the G20 Presidency.
◉ The summit will centre on the five Y20 topics of health, peacebuilding, and climate change.

4. As shadows vanish, Bengaluru experiences “Zero Shadow Day”

5. Xypex declares the opening of its first production facility in India.
◉ The Canadian company Xypex, which offers solutions for waterproofing concrete, has announced the opening of its first production facility in India.
◉ In Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida, the plant will debut.
◉ Chemical manufacturing and distribution capabilities for the region’s upstream, midstream, downstream, and neighbouring sectors will be housed in the 40,000-square-foot complex. The production building provides an additional 30,000 square feet of storage space.
◉ The addition of the new production plant will increase Xypex’s market share in India.
International News
6. According to a report, India would spend the fourth most on its military worldwide in 2022.
◉ According to a report by the Swedish think tank Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), India spent almost six per cent more on defence in 2022 than it did in 2021, making it the fourth-highest military spender in the world.
◉ According to the military expenditure report, over 23% of India’s overall spending went towards financing machinery and infrastructure, especially those along the tense border with China. But salaries and pensions accounted for a sizable portion of the spending.
◉ India’s military spending, which totalled USD 81.4 billion (one billion is equal to 100 crores), was up 6% from 2021 and by 47% from 2013.

7. Speaking at a conference on financial resilience is the RBI Governor
◉ Shaktikanta Das, governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), spoke at the Mumbai conference on financial resilience.
◉ The College of Supervisors is collaborating with the Centre for Central Banking Studies (CCBS), Bank of England, London, to host the conference with the theme Financial Stability: Framework, Monitoring and Implementation.
◉ To increase oversight of regulated firms, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) also established the “College of Supervisors (CoS),” an academic advisory group.
◉ Former deputy governor N S Viswanathan serves as the CoS’s chairman, and there are five further members.

8. Shahabuddin Chuppu takes the Bangladeshi presidential oath of office.
◉ As Bangladesh’s 22nd president, Mohammed Shahabuddin Chuppu, a seasoned politician and former judge, took the oath of office.
◉ Abdul Hamid’s term as president ended on April 23, 2023, and Shahabuddin Chuppu took his place.
◉ He was elected as the candidate for the ruling party without opposition in February of this year, and following the ceremony, he signed the paperwork to take office as president.
◉ Shahabuddin was one of the commissioners of the independent Anti-Corruption Commission. He was born in 1949 and is from the Pabna District in the northwest.

9. Amazonian native woman gets Goldman Environment Prize
◉ The 2023 Goldman Environmental Prize has been given to the Munduruku Indigenous lady from the Brazilian Amazon, Alessandra Korap.
◉ Six grassroots environmental activists from six continents are recognised with this prestigious award.
◉ The award was created in 1989. According to the Goldman Prize, grassroots leaders are people who participate in local initiatives that foster positive change through citizen or community involvement.
◉ Korap belongs to the Amazon rainforest’s Munduruku people. She observed the 1980s as cities, farms, and roads grew nearer to her village. The 14,000 Munduruku people who lived along the Tapajos River were in danger from the settlers, miners, and loggers.

10. Quantum Technology Mission received Cabinet approval for 6003 crores.
◉ The National Quantum Mission (NQM), which would run from 2023–2031 and cost a total of Rs. 6003.65 crores, was approved by the Union Cabinet, which is presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
◉ This would foster the nation’s ecosystem, speed up QT-led economic growth, and elevate India to a leading position in the creation of Quantum Technologies & Applications (QTA).
◉ The new project aims to build intermediate-scale quantum computers with 50–1000 physical qubits over an 8-year period on a variety of platforms, including superconducting and photonics.
◉ Additionally, the mission will concentrate on creating very sensitive atomic magnetometers and atomic clocks for precise timing, communications, and navigation.
