1. Ransomware ‘Akira’ alert from CERT-In
◉ ‘Akira’, a new Internet ransomware, has been alerted to by CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team).
◉ Computer systems running Linux and Windows are the targets of this malware.
◉ Akira, a recently discovered ransomware campaign, is reportedly operational online. In order to coerce the victim into paying the ransom, this organization first takes the victim’s information, encrypts the data on their systems, and engages in double extortion.
◉ If the victim refuses to pay, they post the victim’s information on their blog on the dark web.
2. India and Argentina have signed an agreement to exchange young researchers.
◉ A bilateral exchange of young researchers and startups, notably in the fields of agriculture and biotechnology, has been agreed upon between India and Argentina.
◉ The two nations also agreed to hold in-depth discussions in the fields of science, technology, and biotechnology involving delegations from academia, research and development organizations, and industry.
◉ India is Argentina’s fourth-largest commercial partner; bilateral trade reached a record high of 6.4 billion US dollars in 2022, growing at a rate of 12% over 2021.
3. The center gives preliminary approval for the construction of 21 new airports.
◉ The creation of 21 additional Greenfield airports across the nation has received official approval.
These airports will be built across the nation in order to improve accessibility and connectivity for air travel.
◉ 11 Greenfield airports are now open for business. These include Sindhudurg, Kushinagar, Itanagar, Mopa, and Shivamogga. They also include Durgapur, Shirdi, Kannur, Pakyong, Kalaburagi, and Orvakal (Kurnool).
◉ Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh are other states with permitted airports.
4. UDAN flights have carried more than 123 lakh passengers since they began, according to the government.

◉ Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed Parliament that during the fiscal year 2022–2023, Public Sector Banks (PSBs) issued loans of Rs. 4.12 trillion to state-backed enterprises and public sector undertakings. Canara Bank was the largest lender to public sector companies during that time.
◉ With 187,813 crore, Canara Bank lead the industry in lending to government-backed enterprises in 2022–23 during the just-ended fiscal year.

6. The IMF updates its FY24 GDP growth prediction for India to 6.1%.
◉ The IMF has increased its estimate of India’s economic growth for FY24 by 20 basis points to 6.1 percent.
◉ According to World Economic Outlook, India’s economy would grow at a rate of 6.1 percent in 2023, which is 0.2 percentage points higher than forecast in April 2023.
◉ The majority of experts predict that the Indian economy would expand by 6% to 6.5 % in FY24.
7. The government accepts 8.15% interest on deposits made to the Employees Provident Fund.
◉ The interest rate for Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) accounts for the fiscal year 2022–2023 has been approved by the government.
◉ According to a circular from the retirement organization Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), the reported interest rate is 8.15 percent.
◉ The EPFO has instructed all filing offices to credit the interest on EPF for the fiscal year 2022–2023 at a rate of 8.15 percent to each member’s account.

8. Tenzing Yangki is appointed as Arunachal Pradesh’s first female IPS officer.
◉ Tenzing Yangki passed the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2022, making her the first female IPS officer from Arunachal Pradesh.
◉ Tenzin Yangki became the first female IPS officer from Arunachal Pradesh after achieving rank 545.
◉ Yangki had previously passed the 2017 test administered by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
◉ The first IPS officer from Arunachal Pradesh was Robin Hibu. In 1993, he joined as an IPS officer.
◉ The state is proud of the 11 IPS officials who joined the service later and were elevated to the position of inspector general of police (IGP).
9. Phangnon Konyak became the first woman from Nagaland to chair the Rajya Sabha.
◉ The House was presided over by Phangnon Konyak, the first woman from Nagaland to serve in the Rajya Sabha.
◉ Phangnon Konyak was chosen as the first female vice-chairperson on the panel.
