1. Goa observed the Sao Joao festival.
◉ After a two-year break brought on by the coronavirus, the people of Goa celebrated the Sao Joao festival, the feast of St. John the Baptist, with the customary fervour.
◉ The event honours Saint John the Baptist, who baptised Lord Jesus in the Jordan River, and it is held at the start of the monsoon season. On the occasion of Sao Joao, Siolim, a village in North Goa, hosts a customary canoe procession.
◉ The boat procession in Siolim hamlet of Goa’s Bardez taluka signalled the start of the festival’s celebrations with a sizable turnout.
2. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has accepted the Draft GSR (General Statutory Rules) Notification to adopt Bharat NCAP, according to the Union Minister (New Car Assessment Program).

5. Jointly branded contactless RuPay credit card was introduced by Nainital Bank and BOB Financial.
◉ A jointly branded Contactless RuPay Credit Card between Nainital Bank and Bank of Baroda has been introduced, according to BOB Financial Solutions Limited (BFSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of both banks.
◉ The card, which is being introduced in Nainital Bank’s centennial year, is intended to reward users for everyday spending categories including groceries and department stores.

9. With a Belarusian company, Bharat Electronics inked an MOU for the provision of the Airborne Defense Suite (ADS)
◉ A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and a Belarusian company and its subsidiary for the supply of Airborne Defence Suite (ADS) for the Indian Air Force helicopters (IAF).
◉ For the procurement of an advanced electronic warfare suite for helicopters under the “Make in India” category, DI will provide technical support.
◉ The three companies will work together under the terms of the MoU to supply ADS for IAF helicopters.
