1. In Ahmedabad, the U20 Engagement Group of the G20 will hold a two-day mayoral summit.
◉ On July 7-8, 2023, Ahmedabad will play home to the Urban20 (U20) Mayoral Summit.
◉ There will likely be a number of city leaders and mayors in attendance from different G20 countries.
◉ Delegates from other cities, knowledge partners, Indian and international organizations, academic institutions, and officials from the Government of India and the State Government will also be present at the summit.
◉ The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), which serves as the technical secretariat, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), which serves as the nodal ministry, are both supporting Ahmedabad as the U20 Chair for the current sixth cycle.
2. First hydrogen-powered train in India will depart from Jind, Haryana
◉ By the end of 2023, the first hydrogen-powered trains in India are anticipated to depart from the Haryana district of Jind.
◉ According to the officials, the only country that has hydrogen-powered trains in Germany, and the entire world is monitoring the initiative to see how India would introduce such trains.
◉ In the Jind district, the nation’s first hydrogen plant is being built close to the railway intersection. The plant is nearing completion, and water will now be used to create hydrogen.
◉ In the fiscal year 2023–2024, the Northern Railway is anticipated to operate the first hydrogen train prototype between Jind and Sonipat.
3. BSNL and L&T collaborate to provide businesses with a private 5G network.
◉ The state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and the IT company L&T Technology Services have teamed up to develop a private 5G network for business customers.
◉ According to the structure of the deal signed by both businesses, BSNL will deliver the spectrum via both isolated allotment and the PLMN (public land mobile network).
◉ In order to integrate devices and sensors into the customer’s ecosystem, the IT company, L&T Technology Services (LTTS) will deliver hardware, software, servers, technology, and core for the private network requirements.

◉ The International Institute for Management Development (IMD) has just announced its most recent global competitiveness report, which places India at number 40.
◉ Although the nation dropped three ranks from the previous year, it is still in a better position than the 43rd spot in 2019–21.
◉ India made progress in government efficiency, but fell behind in business efficiency, infrastructure, and economic performance, according to research from the IMD’s World Competitiveness Centre (WCC).
◉ Exchange rate stability, pay scales, and improvements in pollution control were major determinants of the nation’s ranking.

5. Indian Bank and Manipal Technologies collaborated to provide banking products.
◉ In order to promote financial inclusion, Manipal Technologies Limited (MTL) has teamed up with the Indian Bank to provide specialized banking solutions.
◉ The partnership’s goal is to create a long-lasting network of corporate business correspondents (CBCs) that will increase financial services’ accessibility, cost, and availability, especially in underdeveloped markets and rural areas.
◉ Serving more than 600 places would be the initial priority, with the presence being gradually expanded into more recent areas in states like Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Punjab.
6. Infosys secures a $454 million contract with Danske Bank
◉ A five-year, about USD 454 million digital transformation contract with Danske Bank of Denmark has been awarded to IT giant Infosys.
◉ Infosys will purchase Danske Bank’s IT hub in India, which employs 1400 individuals with digital skills, as part of their strategic partnership.
◉ Through this partnership, Danske Bank will be able to realize its strategic goals of improved client experiences, operational excellence, and a modernized technological environment supported by cutting-edge solutions.
◉ The bank chose Infosys to assist with its technological transformation and maximize access to talent and expertise.
◉ Salil Parekh is the president and managing director of Infosys.

7. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is sworn in.
◉ Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the leader of the centre-right New Democracy party in Greece, was sworn in as prime minister for a second term.
◉ The mandate to form a government will be formally given to Mitsotakis by Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou. He will then be sworn in and present his new Cabinet.
◉ New Democracy received 40.55 per cent of the vote with 99.67% of the votes counted, more than double the percentage Syriza, the main opposition party, received.

8. Doctor K Venugopal of Alappuzha was chosen for an IMA award.
◉ Dr K Venugopal, a physician at Alappuzha General Hospital, has received recognition from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) for his contributions to medicine.
◉ K Venugopal has been chosen to receive the award in the community service category.
◉ On July 1, 2023, a ceremony at the IMA headquarters in New Delhi will take place where he will receive the honour.
◉ In honour of National Doctors Day, the IMA established the prize.
9. Sahitya Akademi Award 2023 for Children’s Literature went to Priya AS.
◉ Priya A. S., an Indian author, has been awarded the esteemed 2023 (Kendra) Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar.
◉ In Malayalam, she received recognition for her 2018 book Perumazhayathe Kunjithalukal, which was a children’s book.
◉ For the same book in 2020, she also received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Children’s Literature.
◉ A copper plaque with engraving and Rs 50,000 make up the (Kendra) Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar. Each language’s winners were chosen by panels of three people.
◉ The Malayalam jury included Dr Paul Manalil, B S Rajeev, and Mundoor Sethumadhavan. A list of 10 suggested books was used to choose Priya’s book.

10. Diksha Dagar wins a record-breaking second European Tour event championship.
◉ Diksha Dagar, an Indian golfer, won her second Ladies European Tour (LET) event at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open in 2023.
◉ She defeated Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab in the championship match.
◉ The 22-year-old Southpaw Diksha won her first LET title in her rookie season of 2019 and participated on the Aramco Squad Series winning squad in London in 2021.
