1. Attending the 148th Inter-Parliamentary Union assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, is Harivansh
At the 148th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Harivansh headed an Indian parliamentary delegation.
◉ The delegation was present at the IPU Forum of Women Parliamentarians, APG BRICS Parliamentary Coordination Forum, and IPU Asia Pacific Geo Political Group events.
◉ Additionally, it had a bilateral meeting with the Thai parliamentary delegation. The two parties talked about topics of shared interest and strategies to improve bilateral parliamentary collaboration during the discussion.
2. The Saksham App was introduced by the Election Commission (ECI) to make voting for people with disabilities (PwD) easier. The app’s goal is to guarantee inclusion and accessibility during the voting process.

3. Bharat Biotech begins testing the MTBVAC vaccine in clinical settings in India.
◉ Adult clinical studies for the MTBVAC vaccine against tuberculosis were initiated by Bharat Biotech International Ltd. in India.
◉ This is the first vaccination against tuberculosis that the Spanish biopharmaceutical company, Biofabri, has created using human tissue.
Bharat Biotech and Biofabri work closely together to conduct the trials.
◉ To ascertain if MTBVAC is safe in this cohort of individuals with HIV infection, a Phase 2 investigation was initiated in 2024 following the completion of a dose escalation trial in adults without HIV infection.

4. Mumbai Passes Beijing to Become the Capital of Asia’s Billionaires: Hurun Report
◉ Mumbai has surpassed Beijing to become Asia’s capital of billionaires, a significant achievement according to the most recent Hurun Global Rich List 2024.
◉ India currently ranks third in the world in terms of the number of billionaires, with 271 billionaires.
3,279 billionaires in all are listed in the study, with 167 more added in the last year.
◉ China remained the leader with 814 billionaires, although India added around 100 billionaires, while China’s number dropped by 155.
◉ New York, London, Mumbai, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Moscow, New Delhi, and San Francisco are the top ten cities in the world for billionaires.

5. Brand Finance Insurance is LIC’s strongest insurance brand globally.
◉ According to research Brand Finance Insurance 100 2024, the largest insurance company in the world, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), has become the strongest insurance brand worldwide.
◉ According to the research, LIC’s brand value is still stable at USD 9.8 billion, and it has an 88.3 brand strength index score and a corresponding AAA brand strength grade.
◉ The rankings place LIC as the strongest brand, with Cathay Life Insurance coming in second with a 9% increase in brand value to USD 4.9 billion. NRMA Insurance is next in line with an 82% increase in brand value to USD 1.3 billion.
6. Govt. budgeted Rs. 6200 crore to increase RRB
◉ Under the recapitalization plan, the union government has given regional rural banks Rs 6212.03 crore.
◉ RRBs are given recapitalization help under the scheme to keep their capital-to-risk (Weighted) Assets ratio below the minimum prescribed level of 9%.
◉ With a combined CRAR (Capital to Risk-weighted Assets Ratio) at an all-time high of 13.83 percent as of December 31, 2023, the performance of RRBs has greatly improved.
◉ The combined net profit of Indian RRBs was Rs 4,974 crore, the highest ever, in FY22–23, and it was Rs 5,236 crore as of the third quarter of FY 2023–24.
