1. Prime Minister Modi begins the Supreme Court’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
◉ On January 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Supreme Court of India’s Diamond Jubilee celebration in the Supreme Court auditorium in Delhi.
◉ Additionally, he started several citizen-focused information and technology projects, including Digital Courts 2.0, Digital Supreme Court Reports (Digi SCR), and a revamped Supreme Court website.
◉ Additionally, the government has approved spending 800 crore rupees on the new Supreme Court structure.
◉ The first meeting of the Supreme Court of India took place on January 28, 1950.
2. There will be a rubber meet in Guwahati.
◉ On February 23, in Guwahati, the seventh edition of the India Rubber Meet (IRM 2024) will take place.

4. BoB issues 10-year infrastructure bonds to raise Rs 5,000 crore.
◉ The government-owned Bank of Baroda (BoB) has issued long-term infrastructure bonds to raise ₹5,000 crore.
◉ With a total offering size of ₹5,000 crores (base issue of ₹1,000 crores and greenshoe option to retain oversubscription up to ₹4,000 crores), the bank got 128 bids totaling ₹14,950 crores.
◉ The bonds have a base issue of Rs 1,000 crore, and as a greenshoe option, there is a potential oversubscription of Rs 4,000 crore. This clause in an underwriting agreement gives the underwriter permission to offer investors more bonds than the issuer had originally intended to if the demand for a security issue turns out to be higher than anticipated.

5. Airport in Thiruvananthapuram wins excellence award
◉ The Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) has chosen Thiruvananthapuram International Airport to get the prestigious Excellence Award at the recent National Convention on Quality Concepts 2024 in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
◉ Based on its ongoing efforts to improve airport operations, the TIA was chosen to receive this honor.
◉ India’s official representative for The Quality Circle Movement is QCFI, which has also represented the nation in several international fora.
6. A scholar from IIT Guwahati wins the Vishwakarma Awards for “Best Product Design.”
◉ At the esteemed Vishwakarma Awards 2023, Satyam, a Ph.D. scholar in the biosciences and bioengineering department at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-Guwahati), won the “Best Product Design” prize in the water and sanitation category.
◉ The competition was held by IIT-Delhi in association with the Maker Bhavan Foundation and the WIN Foundation to identify and assist technologically creative individuals from science and engineering colleges around India.
◉ The themes for 2023 were smart mobility, clean technologies, and water and sanitation.
7. Eighty bravery awards are approved by President Murmu.
◉ On the 75th Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu approved 80 gallantry awards, including six Kirti Chakras and sixteen Shaurya Chakras.
◉ Three of the six Kirti Chakras were awarded after death. Two posthumous Shaurya Chakras were among the sixteen.
◉ After the Ashok Chakra, the Kirti Chakra is India’s second-highest gallantry medal during peacetime. The third-highest gallantry honor in the nation during peacetime is the Shaurya Chakra.

8. Australian Open 2024: Men’s doubles final won by Rohan Bopanna
◉ After joining up with his Australian partner Matthew Ebden to overcome the Italian duo of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the Australian Open 2024 finals, Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna made history by becoming the oldest grand slam victor.
◉ After winning the mixed doubles championship at the 2017 French Open with Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski, Rohan Bopanna has now won two grand slam titles.
◉ Rohan Bopanna broke the record set by Australian tennis star Ken Rosewall, who won a grand slam at the age of 37, by winning the tournament at the age of 43.
9. 2027 World Test Championship Final to be held in England
◉ For the fourth time in a row, the 2027 World Test Championship (WTC) final will be held in England in June.
◉ For the years 2024–2027, the ICC released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a Social Responsibility Provider.
◉ India has participated in the WTC Finals in both 2021 and 2023 thus far. The Rohit Sharma-led team lost to Australia in the June summit match of the previous year, while India lost to New Zealand in the first final.
◉ Australia is currently ranked first in the WTC 2023–25 rankings, followed by India.
10. The FIH Hockey5 Women’s World Cup was won by the Netherlands.
◉ In the first-ever FIH Hockey 5s Women’s World Cup, India came in second place with a 7-2 loss to the Netherlands in the championship match held in Muscat.
◉ India attempted to rally and scored twice through Jyoti Chhatri in the 20th minute and Rutaja Dadaso Pisal in the 23rd, but were unable to overtake the Dutch team, who added one more goal through Kalse just before the end of play.
