1. In New Delhi, Anupriya Patel opened the 23rd INDIASOFT.
◉ Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State for Trade & Industry, officially opened the 23rd INDIASOFT in New Delhi.
◉ Almost 70 new products that will be introduced at INDIASOFT have been developed and perfected by the nation’s research and development specialists.
◉ At the exhibition and other co-located events, more than 1500 Indian exhibitors are presenting their goods and services.
◉ Approximately 650 delegates from 80 nations are participating in the three-day event.
2. NGT fines Kerala’s government 10 crores for failing to protect Ramsar sites.
◉ The Kerala government was fined Rs. 10 crores by the Chief Bench of the National Green Tribunal in New Delhi for failing to stop the indiscriminate pollution of the Vembanad and Ashtamudi lakes, which are designated as Ramsar sites.
◉ The fine levied in accordance with the “polluter pays principle” was required to be paid into a ring-fenced account that would be managed by the Chief Secretary.
3. A sports university will be built in Haldwani.
◉ Uttarakhand In the Haldwani town in the Kumaun area, the government will establish a sports university, according to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

4. Egypt becomes a new member of the BRICS bank
◉ The BRICS New Development Bank now includes Egypt (NDB).
◉ Although a formal notification was only sent on March 22, the African-Arab country officially joined the NDB on February 20.
◉ On the basis of the intergovernmental agreement agreed upon at the sixth BRICS summit in Fortaleza in July 2014, the New Development Bank was established by the BRICS countries.
◉ The BRICS Summit, which South Africa will host in August, is expected to encourage intra-BRICS trade in national currencies, enabling member countries to protect their foreign exchange reserves.

5. Crunchfish and IDFC First Bank collaborated to enable offline payments.
◉ Along with Crunchfish, IDFC FIRST Bank will take part in the RBI’s pilot program for enabling offline payments.
◉ Even without a network, this project will give people access to digital payments.
◉ As a part of the RBI’s Regulatory Sandbox Program, the Swedish business Crunchfish launched this unique digital payment solution for retailers and customers.
◉ By the use of a Digital Cash platform, this project would enable offline retail payments in India’s payment ecosystem. One of the initial few banks to take part in HDFC Bank’s pilot program is IDFC FIRST Bank.

6. Reliance Industries has appointed Srikanth Venkatachari as CFO.
◉ With effect from June 1, Srikanth Venkatachari has been named the new Chief Financial Officer of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL).
◉ Alok Agarwal will take up the new position of senior advisor to the chairman and MD, and she will succeed him.

10. Gordon Moore, an Intel co-founder, died.
◉ Gordon Moore, a co-founder of Intel and the father of Moore’s Law went yesterday to Hawaii at the age of 94.

◉ He was the impetus behind the creation of contemporary computing hardware. In the 1950s, he began working on semiconductors, and in 1968, he co-founded the Intel Company.
