1. Thiruvananthapuram will host the 5th Global Ayurveda Festival.
◉ Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, will host the Fifth Global Ayurveda Festival, which Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will open. The theme of this event, which is scheduled for December 1–5, 2023, is “Emerging Challenges in Healthcare and a Resurgent Ayurveda.”
◉ The largest Ayurvedic conference to date, GAF 2023, will bring together global practitioners, scholars, legislators, and business executives to talk about Ayurvedic medicine’s impact on healthcare.
◉ There will be attendees from over 70 different nations. They will draw attention to the growing recognition of Ayurveda’s significance in addressing global health concerns.
2. Cyclone Michaung is expected to make landfall on the Andhra coast.
◉ It is anticipated that cyclone “Michaung” will make landfall on the nation’s east coast. An update on the cyclone’s present state has been provided by the IMD. Myanmar gave Michaung its name.
◉ Within the following 48 hours, it is predicted to intensify, developing into a deep depression and ultimately a cyclonic storm, according to MD Sunanda of the Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Centre.

4. The UAE launched the ALTERRA Fund, a climate investment vehicle.
◉ The United Arab Emirates declared that it will donate $30 billion to a new fund that would deal with climate-related challenges. Prominent backers such as BlackRock, Brookfield, and TPG have joined this fund, which goes by the name Alterra.
◉ By 2030, Alterra hopes to raise $250 billion in capital. Its primary goal is to improve financing availability, especially for developing countries in the Global South—Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania.
◉ The fund also seeks to direct private markets toward climate-related projects. It will take a proactive stance in areas including developing climate technology, cutting industrial carbon emissions, and switching to cleaner energy.
5. Ghana’s Accra will host the United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping Ministerial Meeting.
◉ Ajay Bhatt, the state minister for the defense ministry, will make an official visit to Accra, Ghana on December 5 and 6, 2023. He is scheduled to attend a Ministerial Meeting of the United Nations Peacekeeping.

◉ This figure, however, represents a 2% decrease from the GST collection of Rs 1.72 lakh crore in October. For nine consecutive months, the monthly GST revenue has exceeded Rs 1.5 lakh crore, despite a small decline.
◉ While total GST collections in November were marginally lower than in October, the year-over-year growth was greater than 15%, setting a record for 2023–2024.

7. The 2023 UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award goes to Abdullahi Mire.
◉ Abdullahi Mire, a Somali refugee, is the 2023 UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award Global Laureate for his assistance in assisting displaced children with their education.
◉ He was raised in the Dadaab camps of Kenya and distributed more than 100,000 books to local kids and teenagers. The award ceremony will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on December 13, 2023.
