1. PM Modi opens the airport’s new terminal structure in Tiruchirappalli
◉ At the Tamil Nadu airport Tiruchirappalli International Airport, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated a brand-new terminal building.
◉ The development of the new terminal building has cost around Rs 1100 crore.
◉ The vibrant culture of Tiruchirappalli served as inspiration for the airport’s design. It would feature various subject artworks and art forms, such as Kolam paintings and the colors of Srirangam Temple.
◉ More than 44 lakh people can be served annually by the two-story new international terminal building, with approximately 3500 passengers passing through during peak hours.
2. 12th Divya Kala Mela 2023 to be held in Surat
◉ “The 12th edition of Divya Kala Mela” was held in Surat, Gujarat, by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), which is part of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
◉ The National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC) is one of the co-hosts of the Mela.
◉ Contributing to the economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PwD)/Divyangjan is the main goal of the “Divya Kala Mela.”
3. India opened the first-ever all-girls Sainik School in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh celebrated the opening of the school, calling it a beacon of hope for young women who want to join the armed services and protect their country.
◉ A noteworthy achievement has been reached with the opening of the Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School. With over 870 students, it is the first Sainik School exclusively for girls.
◉ This opening is a component of a larger project to create 100 new Sainik institutions throughout all states and Union territories in partnership with NGOs, businesses, and state government institutions.
◉ The 33 Sainik Schools that are currently in operation and follow the prior model are supplemented by these new establishments.
4. In the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra,” Udhampur reached 100% saturation.
◉ Jitendra Singh praises Udhampur’s accomplishments, noting that important programs and major projects are almost fully implemented.

6. By 2023, UPI had recorded transactions totaling ₹18 lakh crore.
◉ With over 1,200 crore transactions valued over ₹18-lakh crore in December, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) concluded 2023 at a high point in terms of both transaction volume and value.
◉ According to data from the National Payments Corporation of India, over 11,765 UPI transactions of ₹182.2-lakh crore were processed in 2023—a 59 percent increase in volume and a 45 percent increase in value over 2022. (NPCI).
◉ December saw the processing of transactions of ₹18.23 lakh crore, a substantial increase over the previous peak of ₹17.40 lakh crore in November. The value of transactions increased by 42% year over year and by 4.8 percent every month.

7. The DG of Fire Service to be appointed is Vivek Srivastava
◉ Vivek Srivastava has been appointed by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) to the position of Director General of Fire Service, Civil Defence, and Home Guards in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
◉ He is an experienced Gujarat cadre IPS officer, born in 1989.
◉ This important appointment will begin on the day Srivastava assumes the role and run through June 30, 2025, or until additional directives are given, whichever comes first.
