1. The Fourth National Chilika Birds Festival is opened by the Odisha CM.
◉ The Fourth National Chilika Birds Festival, which continues for three days, was opened by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
◉ A stunning photo show marked the beginning of the festival, which was organized in collaboration with the Chilika Development Authority, the Department of Forests, Environment and Climate Change, and the Department of Tourism.
◉ Photographs from well-known photographers, such as Dhritiman Mukherjee, Umakanta Biswal, and Shakti Nanda, were on display in the exhibition.

12. At 99 years old, Dr. Nitya Anand passes away.
◉ At the age of 99, Dr. Nitya Anand, who created India’s first oral contraceptive pill, Saheli, passed away.
◉ From 1974 to 1984, Anand served as the Central Drug Research Institute’s (CDRI) director. He joined CDRI as soon as it was founded in 1951. Along with supervising 100 PhD students, he wrote more than 400 academic papers and more than 130 patents.
◉ He was the driving force behind Centchroman’s discovery, also referred to as “Saheli.” It was the first and only once-weekly, non-steroidal, non-hormonal oral contraceptive pill in history. In 1986, Rajiv Gandhi, who was prime minister at the time, introduced it.
