◉ Deep Narayan Nayak, a West Bengali teacher, has been named one of the top 10 finalists from among 130 countries for the USD $1 million Global Teacher Prize 2023.
◉ During the COVID-19 lockdown, Deep Narayan of Tilka Manjhi Adivasi Free Primary School in Jamuria, Asansol, gained notoriety as the “Teacher of the Streets” by moving classrooms outside, bridging the digital divide for underprivileged children living in remote communities, empowering individuals with learning disabilities, offering guidance to students and their parents, and raising the literacy rates of adult learners.

9. The 7th iteration of the India-Kazakhstan Joint Military Exercise, known as KAZIND-2023, has begun. A force of 120 members from the Indian Army and Indian Air Force left for Kazakhstan to participate.
◉ The exercise is scheduled to take place at Otar, Kazakhstan, between October 30 and November 11.
◉ Ninety members of the Indian Army contingent are commanded by a battalion from the DOGRA Regiment. Representatives from Kazakh Ground Forces’ Regional Command South serve as the Kazakhstan contingent’s representatives.
◉ Along with the Army contingents, thirty Air Force soldiers from both sides will take part in the present exercise.
