1. Kangra tea from Himachal Pradesh receives a European GI label.
◉ The European Geographical Indication (GI) designation has been given to Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra Tea.
◉ This is a significant certification that confirms the tea’s provenance in a certain area.
◉ The marking will make it easier for Kangra tea to get access to the European market.
◉ Kangra tea is famous for having a unique flavor and appearance. Black tea has a sweet, lingering aftertaste whereas green tea has a little woody fragrance.
◉ According to legend, the tea’s unique characteristics are a result of the region’s geographic characteristics. In 2005, Kangra tea in India was given the Geographical Indication status.
2. The second-largest cricket stadium in India will be named after Anil Agarwal in Jaipur.
◉ In order to build the third-largest cricket stadium in the world in the village of Chonp in Jaipur, Vedanta’s Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) and the Rajasthan Cricket Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
◉ The stadium would cost INR 300 crore, one of the greatest corporate investments in India’s sporting infrastructure, thanks to Vedanta’s HZL.
◉ Anil Agarwal International Cricket Stadium, Jaipur, would be the venue’s name.
◉ Almost 75,000 people will be able to sit inside the stadium’s 100 acres of facilities. This stadium would be the biggest in the world in terms of the size of the playing field area.
3. A $363 million loan from the World Bank has been authorized for rural Karnataka.
◉ The Executive Board of Directors of the World Bank has granted a USD 363 million loan to Karnataka to offer two million rural households with clean drinking water through a piped water connection in their houses.
◉ Nearly 77 percent of Karnataka is dry or semi-arid, making it prone to droughts and floods brought on by unpredictable rainfall brought on by climate change, as well as to the depletion of groundwater and worsening water quality.
◉ It seeks to build drinking water distribution networks and install water meters, and it will provide piped water connections to homes throughout the state. The effort is anticipated to help about 10 million people across the state’s 31 districts.
4. Hyderabad’s 50 lakes will be renovated by the Telangana government.
◉ In order to revitalize and improve 50 water bodies in and around Hyderabad, the Telangana government’s Ministry of Municipal Administration and Urban Development has started an initiative.
◉ In Khajaguda Lake, Minister K Taraka Rama Rao launched the “Lakes Development Program.”

◉ According to Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) V Anantha Nageswaran, the Indian economy is projected to expand at a rate of 6.5 percent over the next ten years as a result of the financial and investment cycle’s reversal.
◉ According to the Economic Report published by the Finance Ministry, the economy will rise by 6.5 percent between 2023 and 2024.
◉ India’s economic growth is expected to slow down to 6.4 percent in the fiscal year 2024, according to the RBI.
◉ The third-largest economy in Asia saw year-over-year growth of 4.4 percent in the months of October through December, down from 11.2 percent a year earlier and 6.3 percent in the quarter before.
