1. Kerala emerges as the pioneer state featuring Hallmarking Centers in each district.
◉ Kerala became the first state in India to have hallmarking centers in each of its 14 districts with the opening of a center in Idukki.
◉ The establishment of hallmarking centers throughout the districts would turn Kerala into a center for the gold industry and bolster its position as the most dependable place to purchase gold jewelry in the nation.
◉ Kerala’s gold industry is valued at around ₹1 lakh crore, with an approximate yearly sales volume of 250 tonnes. In the State, there are roughly 12,000 gold dealers, most of whom are registered with the BIS.
◉ Gold merchants provided hallmarking and hallmarking even though BIS hallmarking was only applicable to items weighing more than two grams.
2. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant opens the “Swayampurna e-bazaar.”

◉ Bulgaria has been added to the FATF’s gray list.

6. Fincare SFB and AU Small Finance Bank are set to merge.
◉ Beginning on February 1, 2024, Fincare Small Finance Bank (Fincare SFB) and AU Small Finance Bank (AU SFB) will amalgamate.
◉ In accordance with the merger agreement, for every 2,000 equity shares of Fincare SFB with a face value of ₹10, there will be 579 equity shares of AU SFB, for a share exchange ratio of ₹10 each.
◉ Following the deal, it is anticipated that current Fincare SFB stockholders will hold a 9.9% ownership stake in AU SFB.
