1. The Haj Suvidha smartphone app was released by Smriti Irani.
◉ In New Delhi, Smriti Irani, the Minister of Minority Affairs, unveiled the Haj Suvidha mobile application and the Haj Guide 2024.
◉ Over 4,000 women completed the Haj under the Lady without Mehram (LWM) category last year.
◉ More than 5,000 women have filed for the Haj under the LWM category this year.
◉ The Indian Haj pilgrims’ experience is constantly being worked on by the federal government.
◉ The Haj Suvidha Mobile App will help pilgrims notify authorities of their whereabouts in case of emergency. In an emergency, the app will also assist pilgrims in finding the closest medical services.
2. Indiramma housing program to be launched by Telangana government
◉ On March 11, the Telangana government will introduce the Indiramma housing plan to the state.
◉ For individuals who already own a home site, the Congress government will finance the construction of dwellings with a sum of Rs 5 lakh.
◉ For the advantage of individuals without a plot, a home program consisting of a parcel of land and Rs 5 lakh will be provided.
◉ 3,500 dwellings in each Assembly seat will be approved during the first phase, serving a sizable beneficiary base.
3. Gujarat is home to L&T’s first locally constructed green hydrogen electrolyzer in India.
◉ Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has inaugurated the Green Hydrogen Plant at the A M Naik Heavy Engineering Complex in Hazira, Gujarat, marking the company’s first electrolyzer made domestically.
◉ With this move, L&T Electrolysers Limited enters the domestic electrolyzer manufacturing market, continuing its focus on improving sustainable energy solutions.
◉ The electrolyzer can produce 200 Nm3/Hr of hydrogen, with a rated power capacity of 1 MW, scalable to 2 MW. It has an Electrolyser Processing Unit (EPU) ML-400 and two stacks that were both designed and put together in India by international standards.
4. Sarbananda Sonowal dedicates the first-ever ASTDS tug that is Made in India.
◉ The Medical Mobile Unit (MMU) and the 60T bollard pull tug dubbed “Ocean Grace” were both officially opened by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
◉ The Ocean Grace is the first ASTDS tug built in India under MoPSW, developed by Cochin Shipyard Limited.
◉ At a cost of about Rs. 45 crores, the “Ocean Grace” is the ultimate achievement in maritime engineering. It is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and has an impressive 60-ton bollard pull.
◉ The Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP) aims to have Green Tugs operating at all major ports and to transform at least 50% of all tugs into Green Tugs by 2030.
5. Amit Shah kicks off The National Urban Cooperative Development and Finance Corporation
◉ The National Urban Co-operative Finance and Development Corporation Limited (NUCFDC), the umbrella company for the Urban Cooperative Banks in New Delhi, was established by Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
◉ The RBI has granted NUCFDC a Certificate of Registration, enabling it to function as a Non-Banking Finance Company and act as the industry’s umbrella group for urban cooperative banking.
◉ Helping urban cooperative banks comply with the Banking Regulations Act and improve the professionalism of their operations ought to be NUCFDC’s primary goal.
◉ Over 1,500 UCBs with 11,000 branches, ₹5 lakh crore in deposits, and ₹3.50 lakh crore in credit base are located all over the nation.

6. Flipkart introduces its UPI handle to further advance digitalization in India.
◉ With the debut of its UPI (Unified Payments Interface) handle, Flipkart hopes to further advance India’s digital revolution while improving digital payment options for all users, including the company’s 500 million+ consumers.
◉ Flipkart UPI, powered by Axis Bank, will be accessible to Android customers first.
◉ Consumers can use the @fkaxis handle to register for UPI, and they can use the Flipkart app to make checkout payments and transfer money.

7. Pakistan elects Shehbaz Sharif as prime minister
◉ Shehbaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has been chosen to serve as prime minister of Pakistan.
◉ He received 201 votes, to Omer Ayub Khan’s 92, the PTI candidate supported by Imran Khan.
Allegations of widespread vote tampering have clouded the recently finished general elections. The PTI of Imran Khan has claimed that despite other candidates receiving the most votes, several PML-N and PPP candidates were declared the victors.
8. RBI approves the part-time chairmanship of TMB for an ex-Sebi director.
◉ S. Ravindran, an independent director of Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Ltd. (TMB), has been named by the Reserve Bank to serve as the bank’s temporary chairman.
◉ His appointment was authorized by RBI to take effect on February 29, 2024, and end on August 2, 2026.
◉ At the moment, Mr. Ravindran serves as an independent director on the boards of Shriram Finance, Bandhan AMC, LTIDPL Invit Services, and NSE.
◉ Before taking over as the bank’s part-time chairman, he must resign from his directorships in Bandhan AMC and Shriram Finance.
◉ With 29 years of considerable job experience at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Ravindran, 61, has a wealth of knowledge. From August 2011 to May 2022, he served as its executive director.
