1. Startup Expo was opened by Jagdeep Dhankhar in Kathua
◉ In Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar opened Mega Expo with the subject “Emerging StartUp Trends in North India.”
◉ The Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), DBT, GoI, and CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu, collaborated to host the Startup Expo.
◉ In all, 25 North Indian startups—from Punjab, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and others—displayed their inventions and goods at the Mega Expo.
◉ Additionally, VP Dhankar spoke with an esteemed group of businesspeople, scholars, technocrats, and representatives of the community. StartUps showcased their goods, services, and prototypes at the expo, giving visitors a firsthand look at cutting-edge technologies.
2. India leads the world in ICJS platform entry rates.
◉ For the third year running, Uttar Pradesh has been the top state with the highest entry rate on the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) platform, which was developed by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Supreme Court’s e-committee.
◉ Most notably, the ICJS platform makes it easier for data and information to be transferred throughout the many national criminal justice system pillars.
◉ Through a single-window system, it facilitates the sharing of information on crimes and offenders between courts, police, jails, and forensic science labs.
◉ Thus far, the ICJS platform has 1,56,22,514 entries from Uttar Pradesh. He continued by saying that Bihar is in third place with 16,65,107 entries, while Madhya Pradesh is in second place with 35,04,828 entries.
3. The Jharkhand government has lowered the old-age pension eligibility age to 50.
◉ Jalpaiguri The government lowered the age at which tribal and Dalit people are eligible for old-age pensions from sixty to fifty years.
◉ Only 16 lakh people received pension benefits in the 20 years following Jharkhand’s creation in 2000, according to the government. However, 36 lakh people have earned pensions, the majority of whom are over 60.
◉ After they turn fifty, the government has decided to give tribal people and Dalits pension benefits. They have a high death rate, and even after 60 years, they are unable to find employment.
4. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh increases social security pension to Rs 3,000.
◉ The enhanced social welfare pension, worth ₹3,000 per month, has been introduced by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and it now covers 66.34 lakh beneficiaries.
◉ With this, the pension will increase by ₹250 from its current level of ₹2,750.
◉ The State government was allocating ₹1,968 crore each month for social pensions, and volunteers would distribute pensions to the retirees at sun-rise on the first of each month, regardless of public holidays.
5. Kerala introduces K-Smart Technology
◉ With the inauguration of K-SMART (Kerala Solutions for Managing Administrative Reformation and Transformation), the three-tier local self-government institutions’ services will be available on a single digital platform.
◉ This is the first project of its kind in the nation where a department’s whole service portfolio is made public on a digital platform.
◉ Kerala is leading the way in the use of contemporary technologies. Declaring Internet access as a fundamental right is a first for Kerala among all the states in the nation. 6. France is the first nation in Europe to offer digital Schengen visas.
◉ For the 2017 Paris Olympics, France will be the first nation in Europe to provide digital Schengen permits to tourists.
◉ In keeping with the EU’s digitalization goals, France has said that it will transition all 70,0000 French Schengen Visa applications to online processing.
◉ On January 1, 2024, France launched the “Olympic Consulate” system, which is tasked with handling visa requests for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024.
◉ Applications from 15,000 international athletes, 9,000 journalists, and foreign delegations taking part in the next athletic activities are anticipated to be processed by the “Olympic Consulate.”

7. In Bengaluru, Canara Bank will open a data analytics center.
◉ The massive public sector bank Canara Bank has announced that it will establish a dedicated cyber-security division on April 1. This move is part of the bank’s increased investment in cyber security measures aimed at preventing clients from becoming victims of online fraud.
◉ Under the direction of a general manager, the wing will track online transactions in real-time and sound an alarm if it suspects someone is attempting to access a customer’s account.
◉ Following the establishment of the bank’s new data and analytics center (DnA) in Bengaluru, the PSU bank has taken the lead in utilising analytics to enhance operations and customer experience.
8. India Ratings increases its prediction for GDP growth in FY’24 from 6.2% to 6.7%.
◉ India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) increased its forecast for GDP growth in FY24 from 6.2 percent to 6.7 percent.
◉ The robustness of the Indian economy (which expanded 7.6 percent year over year in 2QFY24), ongoing government capital expenditure, the deleveraged balance sheet of corporations and the banking sector, the potential for a new cycle of private corporate capital expenditure, and the continued momentum in business and software services exports, along with remittances from around the globe, are the main drivers of the revision.
◉ The Reserve Bank of India has revised its GDP growth prediction for 2023–24, increasing it by 50 basis points to 7% from 6.5 percent.

10. In celebration of the Ram temple, Chhattisgarh designated January 22 to be a dry day.
◉ The consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya is scheduled for January 22, hence the Chhattisgarh government has chosen to designate that day as a “dry day.”

11. Prabir Majumdar, a former defender for India, passes away
◉ Prabir Majumdar, a former Indian defender, died at the age of 77.
Majumdar was a fashionable wing-back in the 1960s and 1970s who competed for India at the Asian Games in 1974.
◉ He also competed for his country in the 1974 Asian Games in Tehran, where the squad placed last in their group and was unable to make an impression.
◉ Majumdar represented Bengal in the Santosh Trophy and was a member of East Bengal and Eastern Railways on the home circuit.
◉ Majumdar won numerous championships with East Bengal, including the DCM Trophy, Bordoloi Trophy, Rovers Cup, Durand Cup, IFA Shield, Calcutta Football League, and many more.
